Q: can this be freestanding or does it need to be attached to wall

A: VM Innovations is correct. Fillers go in-between 2 cabinets and not inside of a cabinet. Typically in a new construction there typically can be odd space left over and typically in 3" to 6" increments. Rather than waste the 3" or 6" we developed a filler product that typically gets covered up, but we made a product that turns this into usable space. If you are looking for a similar product that fits inside of a cabinet, look for our 448-WC Series.

They are not intended to be freestanding and require attachment to the cabinet structure for proper support and functionality.
