Q: Will this work on bleach stains ?

A: It will cover them but the bleach spot may look lighter than the rest of the fabric as bleach damages the fibers in fabric.

Q: Is this line of dyes recommended for leathers and suedes?

A: Yes, Rit can be used on leather or suede. However, please be careful as it can cause damage. We suggest not adding any extra salt and do not over treat. Also, it would be helpful to apply a leather or suede conditioner immediately after dyeing.

Q: Can you use this to dye a black backpack?

A: As long as the backpack is made with natural fibers (i.e. cotton, linen, silk, wool, rayon or ramie) or nylon, then you can. If it has more than 40% polyester, acrylic or acetate, then you'll want to use our dye for synthetics, Rit DyeMore.

Q: Does this dye work on home carpeting.....

A: We have heard of people using our dye to dye carpeting, but we aren't exactly sure how it is done. We typically only recommend dyeing items that can be washed so that you can remove any unabsorbed dye from the fabric. And with carpeting, you can't.

Difficult to achieve consistent color
I followed the instructions completely. I added salt to the water for 100% cotton. I completely wet the garment before adding it to the water which was boiled to the required temperature. I stirred the garment consistently... but even as I was stirring, I could see it was absorbing the die unevenly. The color was almost black in some areas and lighter, gray, and other areas.

Splotches
I really like the color and had high hopes but it ruined my pillow cases. I did this twice. The first I did charcoal gray and there we’re splotches so then I decided to do black a couple weeks later and see if that would cancel out the splotches it helped somewhat but not fully. I have 3 pillow cases ruined now with splotches and a sweatshirt with small splotches too. It sucks because I like the dingy black/grayish color on my pillow cases but not the splotches…and as for the sweatshirt it was a pink color and I dyed it black and it turned a purple gray color. I don’t dislike it but definitely not black. I’m going to try and dye it black once more because those splotches irk my soul and it’s cheaper than buying new pillow cases.

I bought this to dye a pale green sweatshirt that I stained by washing it with dark colors. It turned out great! I'm surprised it worked so well. It took a while to do the process, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Just keep in mind that if there are different fabrics in one garment they may dye differently. ie, the cuffs dyed a little lighter, the zipper fabric is still green, and the hood string is a differet color.

Dying Comforter
Ili bought this to dye one of my white comforters and came out exactly how I pictured. In the picture I included both of the same comforter I dyed one used the 1 whole bottle. Glad to say it did not fade after a wash.

TERRIBLE! Not gray AT. ALL.
If I could give this a Zero, I would. The dye is purple and it dyes a maroonish/pink. Incredibly Hideous. I now have to bleach these two pieces to try to get it all out. Don't waste your $$. Colors that actually WORK: Purple, Royal Blue, Black.

Ruined my project!
I tried to dye a tan jacket it with it for a cosplay and it completely RUINED it. It was not even close to to color promised on the bottle I wanted a light grey and it gave me a very dark navy blue grey! I followed all the instructions to a T but it still turned out way too dark! Do not buy the dye is very unpredictable! It didn’t even color the stitching.
