A: You don’t need a box spring just the mattress in the crib.

Q: Is this mattress made of polyurethane foam?
A: The mattress contains 12% Visco Elastic Memory Foam. “Also known as viscoelastic foam, traditional memory foam is made from polyurethane, a petroleum derivative.” So, I think there is some polyurethane foam in it.

Q: What is the hypoallergenic cushioning layer made of (between the coils and the waterproof cotton cover)?
A: For the insulated pads next to coils, is it coir fiber, fiber wrap “rag” pads, woven polyester, or plastic-mesh?? And for the next layer above the coils (the cushioning layer), is it cotton or a mixture of cotton and polyester? Thanks

Q: does this mattess measure 27 1/4 inches by 51 5/8 inches with a thickness not exceeding 6 inches and a minimum of 4 inches.
A: Thanks for your questions on our Sealy mattress. All of our Sealy crib mattresses are designed to fit snugly inside a USA standard sized 52 x 28-inch crib. With that in mind, all of our crib mattresses measure at least 27 1/4 x 51 5/8 inches and are between 4 and 6 inches in thickness when measured seam to seam. Q: What age do you flip it over to the toddler side?
A: Thanks for your question. Our Sealy Premier Posture Dual Sided Crib Mattress features a firmer infant side and a softer toddler side. Parents often turn the mattress to the infant side when their child is approximately 2 years old. We hope this helps!

Q: Can a new born of 0 days old sleep on this? In the description I only see it mention infant and toddler.
A: Yes. My son slept on it night 2 after coming home from the hospital with no problems. You would use the infant side for a newborn as well.

Q: Do you need a waterproof mattress cover with this mattress??
A: I have the Sealy Stain Protection Crib Mattress Pad and have always used it with the mattress. The fabric on the mattress is not 100% waterproof, so I would still recommend a cover.

Q: What materials make this mattress waterproof? Is the cover or any other component treated with any waterproof or other chemicals? And does it contain any flame retardants or fiberglass?
A: Hi, we use a water and stain resistant top coating plus a full waterproof and allergy barrier backing to make the mattress waterproof so liquids won’t seep inside. There are no flame retardants nor fiberglass. Thanks for asking. We appreciate it.

Q: Hello just received and wondered if the mattress is to have little specs darker brown than scattered on mattress? Seems some of them will brush off but not others. Wondered if this is normal or dirt?
A: Hi Angie, the specks on the mattress are natural and normal. They are natural tones of browns, beige, and small dark spots that are inherent to cotton fabric. Due to the reduced processing of the organic cotton plant, some organic plant matter may remain in the fabric. Rest assured, these darker specs or dots you may see on the surface of the crib mattress are just flecks of the natural cotton plant husk.
