Book Synopsis

Celebrate the legacy of the music superstar and Tejano trailblazer in interviews that capture Selena's infectious joy and unique ability to bridge cultural divides. . . .

Selena Quintanilla-Pérez's contributions to music and fashion made her one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers of the 20th century, and her impact is still being felt today. Known as the "Queen of Tejano Music," and the "Mexican Madonna," the Texas native was tragically shot and killed by the president of her fan club in 1995, while at the height of her career, at age 23.

Posessing an impressive soprano vocal range, Selena's music traversed genres and borders with tours all over the United States and into Mexico merging Tejano's infectious cumbia rhythm with street-savvy R&B, old-school soul, dance reggae, salsa, and funk. Icons as diverse as Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, and Demi Lovato cite her influence.

These interviews, which are gathered from throughout her career and include her last, show off Selena's contagious energy, infectious joy, as she discusses her life, music, and influences (Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston). Thirty years after her untimely death, her legacy is still unmatched, and her fan base continues to grow across generations, in celebration of a true American icon.
