Description
Alliums are in the same family as garlic, onions, chives, and shallots. This makes gardeners wonder if they should include them in their ornamental gardening plans, as it conjures up images of supermarket produce. But because good garden designs are often made up of different shapes, Alliums rounded blooms make for high drama and interest in the garden. The Allium group gets more popular annually, from over 300 species to choose. They amaze everyone, and few plants create this kind of wow in the garden. We will be adding many new varieties shortly.
Allium Magic is a striking and unique species, hence it's Magic name. It produces a single stem, which supports a very large 8-10" flower globe. Also sometimes called Persian Flowering Onion.

But I received these in the mail and bulbs looked healthy (e.g., not moldy, not dried). It actually looks like a giant garlic bulb which makes sense since these are in the allium family! I live in Portland, OR so I'm hoping the weather here works out!

I have seen these flowers in bloom before, actually right over the summer and they immediately drew me in. I had never seen such a unique and beautiful plant before. The stems are tall and the tops are spherical with tiny little flowers making the shape. So as you can imagine, I was pretty excited to have received these. The packaging is so pretty and even included an envelope with a card that includes a bunch of information. The bulbs themselves reminded me a lot of garlic bulbs. As a matter of a fact, this plant is in the same family. I dug three holes 5 inches deep and 12 inches apart and planted them in a full sun area. I can't wait until they grow! It says it's for zones 5-8 and I'm in NH so I hope they will be ok. I'm not much of a green thumb but they said they're easy to grow and care for.
Can't wait until spring!

They even came with a lovely informal card. I'm in zone 7 so it isn't quite time to plant them yet but it will he soon. I'm excited to see the pretty blooms this spring!

Bulbs were packaged well and looked fresh. Hoping these will remain in my garden year after year with careful dividing in the future.
