Q: Can I use vinegar and water solution for disinfectant cleaning?

submitted by JJ - 2 years ago
  • A: Perhaps you can apply essential oils or disinfectant on the pad itself instead of in the water container.

    submitted byMaria1000 - 2 years ago
  • A: We can assist you with your inquiry. We do not recommend putting cleaning solutions, vinegar, scented perfumes, oils, or any other chemicals to the water used in the Steam Mop as this may damage it or make it unsafe for use.

Q: How do you store it?

submitted by Audrey - 3 years ago
  • A: I store my steam mop in the closet, standing up. Along side, I keep replacement pads, distilled water. I do add a tiny bit of LimeAWay to the distilled water that I add, every couple of months. Otherwise I use plain distilled water, whenever it needs filling. Daily, I use a swiffer. If needed, I use Armstrong Hardwood Cleaner or Bona that I spray on with a used spray bottle. I'm a homemaker, so I pay attention, I have time. We have 2 BIG Main Coon cats also, there are big wads of hair that I remove daily. I am in my home daily. Hope this helps.

submitted byRosie - 2 years ago
  • A: We would like to let you know you would just need to lean the unit against something when storing. There is no need to take the water out of the unit when storing.

Q: Are these mop covers machine washable or throw away?

submitted by Disappointed - 3 years ago
  • A: I've washed the pads for years, alone with liquid detergent a bit of bleach, yes they shrink a little bit. I hand pull them as much as I can. I have replaced them too, I just cycle them into my pile. I am a fan.

submitted byRosie - 2 years ago

Q: Do you have to sweep the hard surface flooring before using it? Or does it pick up debris from the floor as it is used? I really don’t want to sweep and mop since that is what I am doing now. Thanks.

submitted by - 3 years ago
  • A: We would like to inform you that this unit will collect dust and small debris on the pad.

  • A: Hi, I do swiffer or vacuum before I use my Shark. Yes, it's a pain but, I don't use my Shark daily. I found that my shoes suction to the hardwood, so once a month, I clean my floors with my Shark to remove the residue of cleaners. Who knew? Me.

Q: Can this be used to disinfect mattresses? Due to the beer bug, I have a family member that has become a germaphobe and hopefully this can calm them down.

submitted by cassondra94 - 3 years ago
  • A: We would like to let you know that it is not recommended to use our steam mops on mattresses as the moisture from the steam may stay in the mattress.

submitted byShark Support Team - 3 years ago

  • A: Steam works well on bed bugs depending on the mattress textile and the depth of the infestation; there are variables but yes it would work. the best way to get rid of bed bugs naturally is to buy an OZONE GENERATOR. You can buy high end for expensive or low end for short term (several months to several years) usage. I have a $2,500 medical ozone generator and it kills everything. For your use, you could get a way with a cheap one though and there are so many other uses (even for a cheap one) like cleaning the air, mold, ur vehicle.

Lightweight, easy to use. Just toss the dirty pads in the wash (separately from your wearables, of course) and that's it! We had another one and it finally gave out after about 8 years and I immediately went to Target and bought another one. It's especially good for natural stone and porcelain tile since it doesn't use any chemicals. For longest life though, important to use distilled water as recommended. Once mineral deposits build up inside, apparently it can't be flushed or de-calcified (like a coffee pot) so best to just avoid that in the first place by using distilled water.

Works awesome I’ve had this steam mop for two years now and still works great! Only thing I’d change is for it to be cordless but I can’t complain for the price!

Yesterday evening black to me I'm so grateful to him for everything when I first purchased the steam I fell in love with it because all my floors are hardwood and throughout the house but after my first mop dropped, because I leaned it against a corner, the first one I had to throw away because the cap that holds the water inside the container in the back of the mop broke. Along with other things that was my fault so I purchased a second one when there was a deal going on and now I'm having similar problems and I am using distilled water this time but still has issues would not recommend

This works okay for general cleaning but don’t expect any miracles. We recently moved into a place with kitchen tile and the grout needed a really good clean. Unfortunately this mop wasn’t up for the job. It’s fine to use as a general upkeep mop and works better on wooden floors compared to tile but I probably wouldn’t buy it again. The mop heads didn’t wash great so I’ll have to purchase more of those.

The steam mop is easy to use which is why it didn’t get 1 star. I just put the clean pad on and did 1 dining room. I did it on scrub setting. It left streaks so badly I have to do it again using the tried and true elbow grease method. I hope I can include pics because it’s terrible. Pic of the white sanitizing wipe is AFTER using the mop and from a 2x2 area

My cousin told me about this years ago and at the time I didn't have as much tiled area as I do now in my house. Also, I was a swifter wiper person and nothing's wrong with that and I also still use these. BUT when I use this steam mop my floors just look better, shine better, feel better. I got this on sale which was awesome, but seriously would have paid full price for it.

Had less than two years, unit doesn’t even turn on anymore. Complete waste of money. Garbage. Called shark, said they can’t do anything since it’s not under 1 year warranty. So my advice do not purchase because will likely not work after a year and then you can do anything about it. BYE BYE SHARK

Broke after a year- not worth the price

From the start it had some “red flags” but I ignored them because when it worked properly, it was great! But from the start, it would occasionally only work at about 50%. UnPlugging and re-plugging a couple times usually helped. Now after 14 months it only works at about 10% steam capacity. So in the trash it goes- not worth the price.
