Book Synopsis
A missing husband, a sister acting sus, and a tantalizing tangle of lies--well, there goes Remi's plan for a chill Halloween.
Remi and her sisters, Maeve and Eliana, have a knack for stumbling into murder mysteries. And after a killer family camping trip last year, they're back together for a Halloween they'll never forget.
Remi is living her best life in Seattle until Eliana's husband, Chad, who refused to sign their divorce papers, disappears on the spookiest night of the year. Eliana swears she has no idea where he is, though her obvious motive and weird behavior don't really weigh in her favor. Nor does the severed finger they find in his house...
Torn between loyalty to her sister and mounting suspicions she can't ignore, Remi and her boyfriend, Leo, embark on a manhunt to find Chad--or the rest of him. But the further Remi digs into Chad's movements on Halloween, the more trouble she finds. With a ruthless detective on their tail, threatening texts, a mysterious flash drive, and dubious legal advice from a kooky aunt, the Finch sisters are in over their head. But Remi is determined to prove her sister's innocent, even though the bloody evidence points right at her.
Review Quotes
"Compulsively readable, Drop Dead Sisters is perfect for readers who love shows like Bad Sisters and Dead to Me. A mystery about three estranged sisters who accidentally kill someone? Yes, please." --Mindy Kaling
"Three siblings scramble to dispose of a dead body in this delightful mystery debut...Coombs laces the proceedings with plenty of black humor, à la Alfred Hitchcock's The Trouble with Harry, and works in surprisingly moving meditations on sisterhood. Here's hoping a sequel is in the works." --Publishers Weekly (starred review)
"[Amelia Diane] Coombs makes her adult debut with this delightful series starter with Hiaasen-level wacky characters and plot twists and a heroine readers will root for."--Booklist
"Drop Dead Sisters is a delightfully twisted romp through the woods with an all-too-real cast of quirky and endearing characters that leap off the page. While the mystery of what happened to Guy Moran's missing body keeps the pages turning at a quick clip, the Finches infuse the story with humor and warmth, along with the bizarre frustrations that seem to always accompany large family gatherings. Amelia Diane Coombs beautifully captures just how messy and complicated family, and especially sisters, can be, while simultaneously weaving a captivating caper that kept me on my toes from beginning to end!" --Lauren Thoman, author of I'll Stop the World and You Shouldn't Be Here
"Not only is this mystery packed full of hilarious hijinks and incredible, entertaining twists, it's also a heartwarming exploration of the unique and often complex relationships that can only form between sisters. I loved it!" --Natalie Sue, author of I Hope This Finds You Well
