I decided to use Smarty Pants Prenatal because of their use of methyl folate instead of folic acid. (I do not know if i have the MTHFR gene, but I have researched a possible link with too much folic acid and my 2 kids being born with lip ties that made it extremely painful to nurse.) My other requirement was No iron. The first 2 bottles I bought had a serving of 6 gummies (not the old, old sugar-coated apparently). I found it VERY difficult to chew 6 at times, and I would sometimes cheat by taking fewer or even taking my kids' vitamin instead every once in a while. The next bottle I bought had an updated formula of only 4 gummies, and it also tasted different. I no longer dread taking my prenatals! (I have actually abandoned my old half-empty bottle with the 6 servings!) I would love to see this exact formula (methyl folate, no iron) in a pill form, too!
Please bring back the old formula! I’ve been taking these for years and have been extremely loyal to these gummies. I’m so disappointed in the new formula. I had no problem taking six. I’d rather have six that taste pretty good than four that have a strong vitamin taste. So sad that I have to find a different product to use now.
As a dietitian I am always doing tons of research on anything I take. These are the best gummies you can take for prenatal if you can’t tolerate pills. These vitamins contain the ACTIVE form which is best for absorption. They also contain more vitamins and minerals then most other prenatal gummies. Yes they don’t have iron, but if you eat the right nutrients some people don’t need extra iron. So why add it and have people complain of constipation. Also the serving size is 6 on the old bottles and 4 on the new bottles. This is because you are supposed to break up your vitamins throughout the day (with food) so you can absorb more in doses. Example 2 with breakfast and two with dinner. I don’t care that they are more expensive. It’s worth it to get more bang for your buck with active ingredients.
This to me is the first prenatal you can buy. Check the ingredient list on the back often you have double the amount of vitamins compared to other prenatals. They also are high-quality product ingredients. Organic gluten-free non-GMO etc. You’re paying for a good quality vitamin.
I have been taking this prenatal for a long time, maybe 3 years. The new formula of 4 instead of 6, is a completely different product. Its more smelly and you can taste the vitamin flavor. Sadly now I need to find another prenatal.
