Sniffing Out Justice, second in the Canine Defense series by Carol J. Post, is a book that was hard to put down. With lots of edge-of-the-seat scenes the story quickly grabbed my attention and didn't let up. A hurricane, missing women, a serial killer and secrets from the past kept the pages turning. The author expertly blended into the suspenseful action a sweet romance and faith. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next in the series. I read a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a positive review. The opinions are my own.

Post’s inspirational romance, Sniffing Out Justice. ~ What ~ A Love Inspired Suspense, this second book in the Canine Defense series is a two-hundred-and-thirty-one-page paperback that targets those who like suspenseful romance fiction involving search dogs. With no profanity but topics of abuse, murder, and death, it may not be appropriate for immature readers. The ending includes the author’s note and advertisements. This quick read based in Pensacola, Florida, has a serial on the loose and widow Kris is the target. With her young son and her search and rescue dog, she must rely on Detective Tony, her high school crush, to stop her from being the killer’s next victim. As they work out their past deceptions, Kris learns the truth while Tony faces forgiveness as they hunt down the murderer. ~ Why ~ This is another quick read of trying to stop another killing from happening in the South. I liked how Kris assumed lies were truths until she learned the facts and how Tony tread cautiously when it came to his Christian beliefs by not being legalistic. The story of the serial killer is tragic yet feasible in how it played out. ~ Why Not ~ Some may not like stories of a serial killer, but this one is not too graphic in detail. Others may not care for the faith-based prayers, but there are only a few. One family could be viewed as pious while the other problematic and troublesome. ~ Wish ~ Since this is a Christian read, it would be thoughtful to include the eternal plan of salvation that Jesus Christ died on the cross, shed His blood for all sin, and rose the third day. ~ Want ~ If you crave the next story in romantic suspense, this one has protagonists who search and rescue for love while trying not to be a killer’s next victim.
