Description

The Sony Alpha a6100 APS-C Mirrorless Interchangeable-Lens Camera includes a 24.2MP Exmor CMOS image sensor, the latest BIONZ X image processor and a front-end LSI as implemented in Sony’s full-frame cameras, which combine to deliver all-round enhancements in image quality and performance across all areas of photo and video capture.Image QualityThe Alpha a6100 boasts an impressive APS-C image sensor with approximately 24.2 effective megapixels, the latest BIONZ X image processing engine and the same front end LSI as used on Sony’s acclaimed full-frame cameras to deliver outstanding image quality with rich detail and true-to-life color reproduction. Area specific noise reduction results in low noise even at high ISO which ranges from 100-32,000 (Expandable up to ISO 51,200). The design significantly increases readout speed, enabling functionality including 11 fps continuous shooting, 4K recording with full pixel readout without pixel binning and Full HD 120 fps high-speed shooting.Superior Autofocus with 4D FOCUSThe Alpha a6100 incorporates Sony’s unrivaled 4D FOCUS system for unsurpassed fast autofocus (AF) acquisition time that can lock focus on even the fastest moving subject in as little as 0.02 seconds. It also boasts an incredible 425 phase detection and 425 contrast detection AF points that are densely positioned over 84% of the image area, effectively tracking subjects as they move across the frame. Moreover, the Alpha a6100 takes full advantage of its enhanced fast hybrid AF for movies in both HD and 4K. Both AF detection accuracy and tracking performance have been boosted. Real-Time TrackingKeeping active subjects in constant, steady focus is absolutely vital to capturing every important moment, whether you're covering a sporting event or documenting everyday life. Sony's sophisticated AI-based subject-tracking algorithms won't let you down, processing massive volumes of spatial data at high speed and in real time.Up to 11 Frames per Second, with AF/AEImpressively speedy internal processing and the high-capacity buffer memory mean you can fire off continuous shots at up to 11 fps with after-view or 8 fps for real-time preview, with minimal display lag. You can take around 77 shots in JPEG (Standard) format in one continuous burst. Silent Continuous Shooting at up to 8 fpsSilent shooting is helpful in situations where noise would be distracting, such as at live performances or when taking animal portraits. The a6100 can shoot continuously without shutter noise at up to 8 fps with AF/AE tracking, even in AF-C mode, and with Real-time Eye AF or with Real-time Tracking. Phase-Detection AF and Contrast-Detection AF Working TogetherFast Hybrid AF brings high speed, accuracy and tracking performance to meet the stringent autofocus demands of 4K movies. More effective use of the focal plane phase-detection system enables more stable AF, while the contrast-detection AF system contributes to overall accuracy. Smooth, steady focus is maintained even when an object crosses in front of your subject.High-Resolution 4K Movie RecordingFull pixel readout, with no pixel binning, processes approximately 2.4 times as much information as is required for 4K (QFHD: 3840 x 2160) recording, to produce movies with extraordinary detail, depth and realism.Sony E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS LensGreat for travel, this lightweight, retractable mid-range zoom collapses down to just 29.9mm. Not long had my a6100 twin lens kit and only been out twice with it. 1st time at motorsport event - great for the closer shots, only downfall, I was told the bigger lens would capture the shots my phone couldn't. Unfortunately, my phone has a much better zoom and still get the quality I was after. Great for objects nearer.

Fantastic camera I love everything about it. The only problem I had was getting the app to connect to the camera, but I finally resolved this by changing a setting on my phone. The app could definitely do with being updated as its not very user friendly.

Buy The a6400 if you are focused on video

as the title says, Buy The a6400 if you are focused on video more than focused on photography as this camera is lacking a lot of features that are needed for good post production value. I made the mistake of not getting the a6400 which would have suited my needs more, and now im just stuck with this camera as i am not in the position to return and get the a6400. Things such as colour profiles, and the build quality in general to record in different environmental and weather conditions lack on this model. Don't get me wrong, its a great camera, but for my use value, its 1/5. For photography however, easy 5/5.

Hi, Thank you for your review, and we're sorry to hear that the ILCE-6100L hasn't met your photographic expectations. You can adjust the White Balance function, which corrects the tone effect of the ambient light condition to record a neutral white subject in white. You can use this function when the color tones of the image did not come out as you expected, or when you want to change the color tones on purpose for photographic expression, as explained here: https://cutt.ly/fwFDcfbq We also appreciate the time you have taken to provide us with this feedback, and we take all feedback into account to improve the performance and quality of our products and services to meet your needs. Was looking for a small, light camera with apsc sensor that handled well and I could get large prints. The 6100 has proven to be what I was looking for. With dedicated dials for aperture and speed I can quickly select iso or auto iso.I didn’t review sound as I only shoot stills.

Great camera for the all-round amateur

Getting back into photography again after a long break, I switched from a big DSLR (not Sony) to this model as I wanted to downsize my kit. This is a great camera for an amateur. The picture and video quality is great. For an all-rounder who does a bit of street, landscape, nature and casual family photography, this is great device. I also bought a Sony 50mm lens which has a wider aperture than the kit lens (included with my camera) and I have been very happy with the results. Only note is that this model is not waterproof at all (so in hindsight I should have the A6400), but otherwise a very happy customer!

I been using the Sony a7c but wanted something even smaller, lighter and less expensive. The Sony a6100 is perfect for my needs. The one thing I wish it had was a Minimum shutter speed setting. That way I can tell the camera not to go below a set shutter speed. Other then that This is an amazing camera.

I bought this camera for its compact size and the APS-C sensor which is larger than the sensors on bridge cameras. A friend of mine has the A6000 so I knew that the results would be really good. Equipped with the Sony Zeiss 16-70 lens, which gives the 35mm. equivalent range 24-135, you have a camera that will be fine for most occasions. I have wide angle and tele-photo lenses if needed. There are more sophisticated cameras in the Sony A 6 range but you would have to decide if the extra features are worth the cost for you.
