Q: does this blue ray dvd player play regular dvds as well ?
A: Yes. I bought the Samsung one first and it only played bluray discs, but the Sony one plays both. Hope that helps.
submitted byLanceb - 7 years agoA: I have never owned a bluray player that did not play DVDs. I was under the impression all bluray players play DVDs too and I have owned 2 and both of them do.
submitted bytlfen - 4 years agoA: Yes it does play DVD as well as Blu Ray discs.
submitted bySheila - 7 years agoA: Yes it plays non blue ray discs
submitted byChris T Johnson - 7 years agoA: yes thank you very much
submitted byLILLIAN - 7 years agoA: It plays both types of DVDs for us. As far as the wireless streaming interface goes, it's horrible. If you leave the device on but aren't watching it, it freezes up and you have to unplug it for 30 seconds to get it to boot up again. It's extremely slow starting up, and even though it stores the wireless network information, the system constantly acts as though it doesn't have that information and it can't connect, and you have to go through the setup process almost every time. I would not recommend this player!

Q: Is this unit wireless that is why it requires batteries?
A: Hi Applejax thanks for your question. The player needs to be plug into a wall outlet to operate and used an HDMI cord to connect the player to your source device such as TV. But, the player supports Wi-Fi (wireless) to wirelessly connect you your network. I hope this helps. Erin
submitted bySonyListens - 1 year agoBrand expertA: Applejax it is my guess that the 2 triple A batteries are for the remote.
submitted byroodcat - 7 months agoA: Hi Applejax, thanks for reaching out about Sony BDP-BX370 Blu-ray Disc Player with built-in Wi-Fi and HDMI cable. Q: Is the only way to connect this player to a TV with a HDMI cable? The TV at my apartment is hooked to the wall and the HDMI port is nearly impossible to access. I only have access to the older style red, yellow, and white cable hook-ups.
A: As far as I know, the HDMI cable is the only way to hook it up. I use it primarily to stream netflix and I have never had a problem pausing the shows, as some of the other reviewers have.
submitted bydivadev - 6 years agoA: Have you looked on the side of your TV? Most HD TV's (assuming that is what you have if it is on your wall) have side HDMI ports for plugging in more equipment. All of mine do have the main one in the back, but, they also have one or two on a side.
submitted bytlfen - 6 years agoA: Hi, rainbow! Regarding your question about the Sony Blu-ray Disc™ Player with Wi-Fi - Black (BDPS3700): Most BluRay players will only have the HDMI outputs unfortunately. The A/V connections can't support the maximum resolution of BluRay, so they aren't present on most players. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883, every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

submitted byLouieC - 7 years agoTarget expert supportA: Yes, it comes with a universal remote that controls the BDP and can also control your TV set.
submitted byLanceb - 7 years agoA: Yes. As stated in the product details: "Includes: Remote Control, Registration Card, User Manual. Not Included: HDMI cable." You might want to look at the product details for additional information. You will have to buy an HDMI cable, but it's not necessary to spend much on that. There are definitely some overpriced cables claiming to be so much better than "the others," but they're rarely worth the extra cost.

A: No, you still need to have the DVD player connected through an HDMI cord.
