Q: My parents have a 21 year old CRT TV set. They were told they would need to purchase an analog DVD player that is compatible with an old TV set. Is this DVD player compatible?

submitted by Curious - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Curious, thanks for inquiring. This player can be hooked to TVs that support RCA connections (yellow, red, and white cables). Regards, Erin

  • A: If their TV doesn't have RCA jacks but only has an F connector for an antenna/cable input, you'll need to purchase an RF Modulator which will let you watch your DVD player's video through your TV's cannel 3, the same way VCRs and old video games did.

submitted byGrape soda - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi, Curious! Regarding your question about the Sony DVD Player - Black (DVPSR210P): If the TV in question has a 3RCA input (AV jacks, the yellow, red, and white cables) then this model will work with the TV. Q: How do I connect thus player to a cable box? Is there a particular kind of coaxial cable that I need?

submitted by WSB91 - 2 years ago
  • A: That would depend on the cable box. The player comes with an AV cable (RCA red, white, yellow). The player does not have an HDMI output, so if that is what you need, you could get the Sony DVPSR510H, which has an HDMI output and is carried by Target. However, an HDMI cable is not included with the DVPSR510H, so you would also need to get an HDMI cable.

I bought this player a couple of days ago and I have been nothing but impressed. It's a basic player without smart features like Wifi and streaming capabilities but it works well. I have bunches and bunches of DVDs and wanted a good player after my DVD-VCR combo bit the dust after 20 years of service. I have loved Sony products and I have a few of them. They all are built with good quality. This DVD player is no different. I'm sure it will provide me with many years of enjoyment.

I am so impressed with this dvd player. it's compact and works really well, has a remote control and it's a Sony all for $35.00. If you're looking for a basic dvd player, you will not regret buying this. I bought this to replace a Sony dvd player that lasted 12 years!!!

Stoped working after 3 months and wouldn’t play half of the dvds we tried to play. We purchased it for a Christmas gift so we had it for almost a month before it was opened so it was not returnable after 30’days. Don’t waste your money.

Good Basic DVD Player

We bought this DVD player to replace an extra one that was in our loft area. It's not a main tv and one we watch occassionally, so it is a good back-up DVD player. In my experience, the SONY electronics have been of good quality over the years and so I expect this one will last a long time as well.

I have had this DVD player for 7 months and discs sometimes are very slow to load. Movies will also freeze and then skip further into a scene or freeze while I’m fast forwarding through part of a scene. The dvd plays normal on other DVD players though. Very disappointed in this DVD player.
