Sony - FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS Standard Zoom Lens (SEL24105G/2)

Very happy with the build quality and with the excellent quality of the images from this lens. To be honest this lens has never been off the camera since I purchased it over a month ago

Very happy with the lens, a prefect partner for the 7CR that I recently purchased, I suspect that it will be the day to day lens for the camera.

Having used Canon - an APS-C one - and Olympus cameras - Micro 4/3 - I wanted to move on to full frame and the A7 iv was the chosen item. It came as body only and there came the dilemma, which first lens to buy. It seemed that the 24-105 was highly rated by many on YouTube and independent reviews for its ease of use, the versatility - wide to short telephoto - but more than that, the image quality. I’ve only started using it in the last 10 days whilst learning the functions of the new camera and I have to agree that this is a GREAT first lens

I wanted a mid-range zoom lens with more reach than my 28-70 f2.8 GM II but I didn't want to lose quality; after a lot of research I chose the 24-105 f4 and the results are outstanding - image quality and colour are exceptional, the lens is relatively light and compact and in both full-frame and APS-C mode produces results that, if I didn't know, could have been from my 28-70 lens. This is a super lens.

Great lens. I've been using this lens for a couple years. Although it isn't a 2.8mm, it reaches further than the 28-70mm. That extra reach means everything to me.

I ran some rough tests on the Sony FE 24-105 f/4 G at 24mm, 50mm and 105mm using a basic lens chart with an A7RII shooting RAW. Wow, what a lens! It out-performs pretty much every 35mm film zoom I've ever owned, and many of the primes, especially wide angles. This lens does exhibit some light and resolution falloff in the corners wide open, but was cleared up by f/5.6-f/8. Except strangely at 24mm, light falloff diminished at f/5.6, returned in the far corners at f/8, then disappeared again at f/11. Through the range of focal-lengths, I found the sweet spot to be f/5.6 to f/11. At f/16, diffraction is held back amazingly well, and though f/22 shows some diffraction degradation on the chart images, in real world shots it can be tolerable due to the outstanding sharpness and contrast characteristics of this lens. I don't know how much correction was done in the camera, but CA is nil. And I didn't see any noticeable barrel or pincushion distortion. Reviews I'd read suggested the lens was good, so once I got it, it was immediately pressed into service shooting products before I'd tested it. And I was astounded. Images held together as I progressively stopped down to catch details through depth-of-field. Shooting at around 75mm, working as high as f/18, even into f/20, real-world details were captured without apparent diffraction and post-production sharpening wasn't necessary. And the lens focuses very close, making a lens change unnecessary for smaller items. Though I'm mostly a tripod guy, it performed very well while playing around with it hand-held. It didn't have a problem focusing in home-level lighting. The stabilization worked well, though I'll admit I have the ISO turned way up when snap-shooting. But I do like its switches for stabilization and focus so I don't have to hunt around or remember where I programmed which control, when I put it back on the tripod. Can't really say anything bad about this lens. I'm used to manual focus lenses, or little micro four-thirds cameras, so it seems big to me, but this lens is full-format, and with all those gears and motors inside for stability and focusing, that's understandable. And it takes a large, telephoto-sized filter, but 77mm is not crazy-big and at least the lens doesn't require some oddball internal filter. So even those factors are okay. All in all, I'm extremely happy with the Sony FE 24-105 F/4 and from what I've experienced with it so far, it could just be one of those lenses that becomes legendary.

Have used this lens extensively - it is better optical quality than I expected

I bought this lens to fit in between my 12 - 24 and 100 - 400 lenses and what a great addition it is. The overall quality is outstanding and being an F4 it is great for both indoor and outdoor shooting. If you are in the market for a 24 - 105 lens, I would highly recommend this lens.

This lens covers the perfect focal length range for landscape photography. The constant f4 aperture is good for low light photography and more that enough for the typical f8 - f11 range which gives the DoF required for landscapes. Sharpness and lack of any significant distortion are excellent at all focal lengths.

I did lots of research before purchasing the sony FE 24 -105 F4 G OSS Lens for my SOny A7 II. I wanted one lens on my camera body all the time that I can use for landscapes, street photography and portraits and this lens covers all these scenarios really well. The Quality is superb , you can tell its professional grade

I've had this lens now for about 3 weeks, and mostly the UK weather has prevented me from using it. From my experience, (EX PRO), it seems so far to be good, and worth the money. I expect to get better results than this too, as soon as I get the chance.

Quality seems good but I find the lens movement up and down to be quite stiff. I am told this is normal by retailer - I'm not sure.

An absolutely brilliant all round lens, ideally suited as an excellent travel lens or days out with the family. Easy to hand hold even at full zoom, and still get pin sharp results.

I bought the A7 IV Camera and was looking for a lens that would cover a broad zoom range to prevent carrying multiple lenses. This Lens fits the bill perfectly. It is perfect for the landscape photos that I tend to take. It’s well balanced on the camera and is neither too bulky or heavy.

A great all round general use lens for the amateur to pro. One of the best mid zoom len on the market. You cant go wrong starting with this lens on your new Sony camera!
