Description
The Sony E 20mm F2.8 Prime Lens offers a versatile 20mm (30mm in 35mm full-frame format) focal length with an impressive F2.8 maximum aperture, catering to experienced photographers who demand exceptional image quality. The lens's remarkable resolution is achieved through the inclusion of three aspherical elements that ensure superb contrast and sharpness across the entire image, even at the edges. This optical excellence is packed into a slim 20.4mm-thick pancake design, creating a highly portable combination when paired with compact E-mount cameras. Circular aperture blades enhance the 'bokeh' effect, producing a smoother and more natural background defocusing. Aspherical lens elements play a crucial role in reducing spherical aberration, resulting in a more compact and lightweight lens while maintaining high sharpness and contrast, particularly at maximum aperture. The well-designed aspherical elements also reduce the overall number of lens elements, contributing to a reduction in size and weight. The inclusion of Advanced Aspherical (AA) elements, featuring a high thickness ratio between the center and periphery, enhances image accuracy and quality. The lens's autofocus operation is efficient, with only the rear groups of the optical system moving to focus, enabling speedy AF performance and a shorter minimum focusing distance. Furthermore, the non-rotating front of the lens improves usability when using a polarizing filter. In summary, the Sony E 20mm F2.8 Prime Lens combines a wide-angle focal length, a bright aperture, and superb optical quality in a compact and lightweight package, making it an excellent choice for discerning photographers seeking outstanding image performance.

I bought this one new, as it is so cheap! It's well made for the money, and makes my a6400 into a 35mm equivalent high-end compact. I haven't used it very much, but the quality of the images is very good and it is very light and small.

This lens now permanently resides on my a5100 used as a webcam through a capture card. A very expensive webcam but the picture quality is worth it. Clients often mention the quality and clarity of the image so it is clearly well received.
Good performance, even better form factor...

This isn't the sharpest lens, but it is still pretty very sharp in the center and gets a little soft in the corners. But it is so portable. It feels like a point and shoot with the a6000.
Excellent little lens

Bought this to use with an A6000 to take photos indoors over the Xmas period. It worked a treat and I got some great shots. As the combo was so small I popped in my coat pocket and took it out walking where it proved great for some lovely landscape shots. Overall really pleased with the lens, a perfect match to the A6000.

I've had the lens for a few months now and it really complements my A6000. The lens is quite small so, when attached to my A6000 I can fit it into a coat pocket. The quality of the images it produces are very good and exceptional for the price. I read a number of positive reviews of other makes of camera's with non-interchangeable lenses, especially for Street Photography. They claim that the fixed lens, often around 23mm, and camera deliver great results. However, the A6000 plus the E 20mm F2.8 delivers far greater performance, great image quality and, in a lot of cases, for less money - plus I can change the lens if I wish. It's a great lens and, with the A6000, a great photography package.
A good lens for the value

I have been using this wide angle lens since July 2013 and it has become my go to lens for landscapes and portraits. Basically, I use it for all kinds of photo taking. The lens produces great photos in natural light. My photos are sharp and vibrant. I've attached an unedited photo.

After reading the mediocre reviews for the SEL16F28, I ended up trying this lens (SEL20F28). The lens has proved to be very handy, and I am generally happy with the photos. The photos are sharp, but low light scenes may be a little dark with some vignetting. Two jpeg photos are uploaded for review. There was no post processing except for cropping both pictures to reduce them to the 5mb limit for this review.
