It Squeaks Like a Dog Toy
Do not purchase this if you have dogs. This teether is basically a squeaker toy. I received this as a gift but I will be returning it. I’m surprised that this teether is raved about because it seems like an accident waiting to happen. I would’ve expected this teether to be firm but it is a flimsy, squeezable teether that squeaks. My dog naturally thought it was a dog toy as I’m sure most dogs would. This isn’t something I would want to risk giving a baby to teeth on if there are pets around.

Not the original
I do not believe this is the original Sophie la girafe. You need to find the white box edition if your looking for the original. I don’t believe Target is carrying that product. That being said, some natural rubber is better than none, I guess?

Embarrassed to give as baby shower gift
1 star rating has more to do with condition of the box when this product was delivered. I purchased this as part of a baby shower gift but I am completely embarrassed to give it because the product box is damaged. It looks like it has been ripped open and then returned. I should have never received a product in this condition. Target should not send this to people from their online orders in tbis condition!

This is not the same sofia as years past
I distinctly remember buying this for my god daughter 4 or so years ago and she was solid rubber. The one I purchased today is not and she squeaks ??? FOR $30????) Be so for real. Buy a used one online so you get the high quality one this is a joke

Dont use if baby has teeth already!
While my son loves this teether toy, I have to throw it out because I just noticed that little bits of the toy are falling off and being ingested. My son got his two bottom teeth at 4 months and they are sharp, clearly enough to cause this teether to break down and become unsafe. Warning others to check theirs closely if your baby also has teeth already!

Awful smell and unsanitary
Smells like Halloween mask, is too soft, has a hole for the squeaker so impossible to sterilize (inside will grow mold) and way overpriced.

Why on earth is this such a popular toy?
Maybe it's my fault for not reading the directions, but I had no idea this thing squeaks like a dog toy. That's a problem for a few reasons: First, it attracts the dog. I don't need my kid and my dog fighting for the same toy; that's a recipe for disaster. Second, because the "whistle" necessitates a hollow body and a hole, you can't sterilize it. Even rinsing it under water and trying to not get water in the hole, I got water in the hole. That solved the squeaking problem - now it's more of a strangled squeak noise - but eventually that's just going to grow mold because it can't be cleaned. Third, because it's hollow, it feels softer and less substantial (and therefore less satisfying for chewing for my kid) than I anticipated. This is grossly overpriced for a teether. You know with pricey handbags, how you're paying $100 for material and workmanship and $1000 for the label? With this teether, you're paying $4 for quality and $24 for whatever quality halo comes with the "natural rubber" and "made in France" labels. This could be a 5-star toy for me if someone hadn't decided that it needed to "engage" a baby's sense of hearing, i.e., assault the hearing of every adult and dog in the household.
