Great Value and Exceeds Expectations!!!
While looking for great quality resources that are both affordable and contain great resources to assist my struggling students, I found the Spectrum Test Practice Book Level 2. This covered all the standards in an easy to use format that both parents and students can utilize. It also has an online resource data base for each state so that I can find tune it to my needs of my students in my class. I teach special needs student at a middle school level and found that this book is not “kiddish” but meets the students at their own level with great questions covering all English language arts and mathematics standards. This is an amazing tool for both parents and teachers to have in their arsenal.

Test Practice Workbook, Grade 2
The Spectrum Test Practice, Grade 2 is an excellent source for anybody that gives standardized tests. This book offers lessons in reading and math that aligns to the Common Core. Not only do you get the book but there is also an online practice test that align to the Common Core as well. I have used it to review skills with my students as well as my son. I like how it is created like a standardized test so the students are prepare for what they look like when the test day comes. I also like how it has test taking strategies for students as well. Those strategies will be helpful for students to think about while they are taking the tests.

Tired of Making Sample Test Questions? Use the Spectrum Test Practice Books!
I received the Spectrum Test Practice Reproducible book for second grade. Second graders are new to testing. They need continuous modeling and practice with test taking strategies. It is hard to find resources that provide this for second graders. I thought this book would be useful because I am constantly making up sample test formatted questions for practice and reinforcement of test taking strategies. My first reaction was that this book looked boring, but as I started exploring the pages, I realized that it was divided into lessons, sample tests, and practice tests. There is even a free online practice test, which is aligned to the standards of your state in addition to the Common Core State Standards. I am using this book to review skills and model ways the test questions might be viewed. In addition, I am using parts of it as quick assessments for my class and intervention. I use the sample tests to see which students need more practice. The students get used to the answer format. Second graders really need that. One skill that I did not see in the Reading Comprehension section was “Sequencing”. I would like to see a chart that has one of two blanks where the students have to fill in the missing parts. I would also like to see questions that ask “Which paragraph can answer the following question?” Charts in both the reading and math sections would be a great addition. This book is a great asset to my resources!

Test Practice here we come!
The Spectrum Test Practice, Grade 2 (704248) is a GREAT tool to have. It offers not only lessons in word analysis, vocabulary, comprehension, listening and writing skills but also in math concepts, computation and applications. I love that there are sample tests for each area and practice tests over bigger skills. The book is correlated to common core and you can get your own individual state resources online. What can be more helpful and time saving for the busy teacher then that?! I decided to use the sample tests as a pretest to see how well my students understand the skill and then plan to teach each lesson individually to lead to the practice test. If you are looking for a good resource to help with those standardized tests that we teachers just love, this is it!!

This workbook is very helpful.
The Spectrum Test practice workbook for grade 2 is full of practice activities. I like that it has free online resources that can be printed and used in the classroom. It has Reading, Language, and Math activities. I know it’s a workbook and that tends to be a negative. But the practice passages have some good questions and the questions make students think. It can be used whole group or can be used in centers. I liked that it had charts with questions. There are only a few questions per page, so I can put it on the overhead and use it for morning warm-up practice or it can be sent home as homework practice. There are a variety of question types throughout the workbook.

Test Practice
This book includes standardized test lesson pages, sample tests, and practice tests for both math and ELA second grade Common Core standards. I use the pages for extra practice in reinforcing the standards and to get the students used to seeing problems in standardized test format. I like that it really focuses on test taking clues, such as skipping difficult questions and coming back to them if time allows. There is a PDF of a practice test aligned to the CCSS that you can download and use. Although I don't always agree with all the standardized testing and the pressure that comes with it, these types of activities will help prepare our students for test day!

If you are in a testing grade OR must give a standardized test OR just like to know how your students are progressing, this is the book for you! Fortunately, I’m in the last category—interested in how my students are progressing and their readiness for third grade. I am so excited about using this test prep resource! In addition to the pages in the book correlated to the Common Care State Standards (Yeah!), online pages are available to provide bonus practice aligned to your STATE and grade level! Having online access to a comprehensive practice test correlated to the CCSS available online is an absolutely wonderful bonus! Comprehensive it is! Each area (reading, language and math), is divided into skill components with lesson pages and a sample test. For example, Reading includes Word Analysis (Word Sounds, Rhyming Words, Contractions & Compound Words, and Root Words & Suffixes), Vocabulary (Picture Vocab., Word Meanings, Synonyms, Antonyms, Words in Context, and Multiple Meaning Words), and Reading Comprehension (Picture Reading, Critical Reading, Fiction, Reading Literature, and Nonfiction.) At the end of each area, a complete practice test is available. Each lesson page even has a clue for a great testing strategy. Love this! Another great feature is each page is student friendly—great spacing with not too much on a page. My students aren’t overwhelmed like they were on some of the district tests we used to give. I think the pages would also be a great resource for the end of a unit of study.
