The blade features a serrated edge for sawing, and the reverse side features an expandable pick for loosening hard packed soil and cutting through roots. This G.I. style shovel also features collar locks for securing the blade in place. We’ve included a carrying pouch that can be attached to a belt loop for easy storage and transportation. Got this as a way to not have to use a plastic kitty litter scoop w slats because we use pine pellets and we just need a plain metal scoop with no slats. My husband immediately confiscated this shovel, tried it out and put it in our emergency kit saying it is way too nice and effective a tool lol. So, we like it but still looking for a what I need...
