Q: Does the door open in both directions?

A: Yes, the Central Station Safety Gate can swing open in either direction. It also includes a removable door stop which helps prevent the gate from swinging open in one direction. The door stop is recommended for use at top of stairs to help prevent the door from opening over the stairs.

Highly reccomend
Great gate when installed according to the instructions. It’s easily adjustable to accommodate different doorway sizes, but the tension has to be correct for the gate to align. We’ve been using these for years and they’ve held up well.

Gross and dirty
Gate came scratched, beat up, sticky and with dog hair all over it. It was thoroughly used before I got it. Could have at least cleaned it up before shipping it out to someone new. I have these gates elsewhere in my home and they work fine, but this is disappointing and gross.

You have to tighten it so that the gate closes read directions. All pressure gates work this way. As you tighten ask ends into the door frame it will pull that gap in the door together. Not deformed.

Pretty great
All of the bad reviews simply didn’t read the instructions. You use the tension on either side to bring the gate latch closed. Then and only then should you remove the last zip tie. It’s pretty good for the price! Works for my 5-10 pound dogs

I bought this a few days ago …. The latch is too far away from the catch to close and you can’t adjust so I have to tie it with a string. Very disappointing

Not good for puppies or small dogs
Horrible for puppies or small dogs. There is a lather gap between the spindles near the gate hinge both of my puppies got loose when i was not home. Bad design not sure when there is not a spindle there. For reference my puppies are 7.2 and 5.8 pound puggles.

Not a great design. When you tighten the bolts on the sides to make it fit the doorway snug and properly, it squeezes the gate inward and the metal bows into itself and makes it difficult to open the gate door. Poor design, will be returning this.

Hi - it sounds like you may have tightened the bolts a little bit too much - if you have the gate installed too tightly, it could be difficult to open. Very impressed
I have a very strong and destructive 2 year old and I’m beyond impressed this gate is not broken yet. He will rock the crap out of this gate (trying to escape) and it will become loose, as expected, but when we tighten it up, it works just as it should and always have. We have had this gate for a year now.

Good quality gate.
This is a good quality gate. I run childcare centers, so I have used a lot of differnt gates. This one is good. I've seen a couple negative reviews complaning that the gate is "bent" or "deformed". This is most likely not the case. The gate is supposed to be "deformed" slightly so that it stays in place when the compression pads are tightened. If it was not, then the gate would not stay put.

This gate is pure garbage.
This gate was so bent and misaligned, there was no way the door was ever going to latch closed. The door top was 3 inches away from the latch. I wish I had read the reviews before I wasted my time buying this.

As a pressure-mounted doorway gate, the frame is intentionally angled to help create the pressure once installed, but the door may appear off-center before installation is completed. Brilliant gate!
I am so impressed and happy with this gate. I managed to install it without swearing or damaging any woodwork!! The owner's manual includes a page of configurations so you can build the gate to fit your space, without guessing- will attempt to include a photo. I nearly returned as defective- until I noticed the bright blue tag that shows "before" vs "after" installation. The door does not align properly UNTIL the gate is installed properly... (will also try to include a photo of this "note").
