Metal strip is good but the actual design of the plastic seems to make the shovel glide across the top of the snow vs. get under it. Makes for uneven and inconsistent results.

This is definitely a well-built shovel but it is far from being light-weight. The weight seems to be in the pole which I doubt would ever bend or break but for me, it doesn't strike the balance between being well made and having a reasonable weight. Snow is heavy enough and I prefer not to add any undue weight with a shovel.

I bought this shovel specifically because it was light weight but it still has the metal strip on the bottom so it makes nice contact with the cement and scraps it clean very nicely.

Don't Buy This Trash Useless as a Snow Shovel

This snow shovel had the long shaft leading to the top handle bend in half. This rendered the shovel an instant piece of trash. The snow was not even wet and heavy; the snow was light and fluffy. Apparently the large scope size of the shovel, for even light fluffy snow, is too massive for the arm.

The cheap plastic bends a bit at the sides, so only the middle part works at shoveling snow all the way to the ground. I will be returning this shovel.

We got 9" of snow and this cleared our walkways and driveway just fine. Only the front edge of the shovel has a metal edge, the rest is plastic. Although it's not a lifetime shovel, it works great and is lightweight, but strong. So far so good.

Nice Shovel for the price, but the weather strip seems to be wearing out quickly, may be will work for 3-4 times of heavy cleaning, not sure yet as I used it just once. Sturdy, not too heavy, solid grip and can take out a big chunk of snow.
