Rich and beautiful return of a true original voice in music.
It has been 10 years since the last album Tanya put out called My Turn which was a covers album of male country singers so having to wait this long should have never happened. I bought this version because of the Target two extra tracks and that was money well spent. Produced by Shooter Jennings- who I assume knew her from his famous parents Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter . Plus the new (not so new) girl Brandi Carlisle and you get such a rich and intricate album of story songs which is what Ms. Tucker has been doing since Delta Dawn. I Don't Owe You Anything, Hard Luck and bonus track Pack Your Lies And Go are filled with her sense of self and humor. The album has a lot of intense heartfelt ballads like the first video The Wheels of Laredo and the covers of The House That Built Me (now about a woman wanting to see the house she raised her kids in becomes such a more kick to your guts than the Miranda Lambert original) and the High Riding Heroes track which is a cover but is really about Tanya Tucker and her reputation in the industry. The Day My Heart Goes Still and Bring Me My Flowers are as great as any George Jones tearjerker he ever did. The new version of Delta Dawn is as good as the original as anything else out there on Country radio. Her voice in whatever life she has lead is as pure- heartfelt and an old friend you want to visit you more often. A+++++
