What the heck happened-TINY Kandy Kakes
As a NEPA native, I grew up on Tastykakes (I'm a chocolate cupcake and kandy kakes gal). I now live in CA and my sister will send me my favorite treats. I just opened a Kandy Kake and my first thought was what the heck happened? They are SO tiny! I know things aren't how they used to be, but I have to agree with another poster who said keep the size and just increase the price. This is beyond sad, I will ask her to not waste her money anymore. I hope you're reading these comments, your changes are noticed and it's NOT for the better.

Terrible…
These used to be a top tier dessert! I bought one of these today. About half the thickness as they used to be, the chocolate was all soft, dry and messy. No “pattern” on the bottom of the cakes. Definitely a far cry from what these used to be. Will not be purchasing this cheap replica ever again.

Whoever or whatever made you change from the original Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes, has really messed up. They are causing you to lose money. Everyone is talking about how awful this new taste is. PLEASE PLEASE GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL RECIPE!!!!! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone now that the taste is different.

Tastykake Peanut butter
I bought 2 boxes of these yesterday. After 65 years of eating my favorite snack, they were such a disappointment. If I wanted a cookie I would have waited and bought the girl scout cookie. It's a better cookie.

A preferred treat since the 50's
A fondly remembered treat since childhood that is moderate in size and (like Reese's) best when frozen.

What happened to Kandy Kakes?
Having moved to California and not eaten a Kandy Cake for many years, I was excited when my daughter brought me some from Philly. Unfortunately they simply don’t taste as good as they used to. The chocolate appears much too sweet and less chocolatey. There is less peanut butter, and the cake has a different consistency and flavor than it used to. I don’t think the box used to say “chocolate, flavored coating,” but they do now. Maybe they’re not using real chocolate. Most disappointed. I think the recipe must’ve changed. If you are reading this, tasty cake, and you have changed the recipe, please change it back!

A shell of it's former self
Like many, this was my favorite quick dessert. Also loved the chocolate ones but both suffer from the same problems. 1. The cake is always stale now 2. They only cover part of the top with the peanut butter or cream 3. They don't even fully coat them anymore. You can see the cake on the bottom through the thinnest layer that doesn't even always cover the entire bottom. 4. Overall taste of the chocolate has changed to a fake tasting flavor.

They're Back
I got a pack of PB KandyKakes for Christmas. Yes,so... They were great, about like they were before Tasty Baking moved, etc., but a little smaller. The "chocolate flavored coating" is better than it had been for a while and the cake was moist. Things got too dry for a while,so I stopped buying them. Much improved. The coating needs a tweak to get back to the glory days.FWIW, I ate them right out of the fridge, THE ONLY WAY from now on.

What happened
I am guessing due to high costs, the company decided to make these smaller. Also, there is less chocolate on top. Not the same as years ago

Taste Different But Overall Still Decent
I've always been a huge fan of Tastykake Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes but, in my opinion, they taste slightly and palpably different than they tasted to me back in the 70s and 80s. The sponge cake to me has a very light textured taste, whereas years ago it tasted a little heavier and even sweeter. The chocolate that enrobed the Peanut Butter Kakes was neater looking back in the 70s and 80s too--like it was a perfect mold. Now it looks like it was dipped in chocolate by hand. I've noticed too that the chocolate underneath the Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes does not cover the entire cake--it almost looks like the chocolate melted, but they can't all be melted; they even appear that way in the cooler months. As with everything, prices have gone up for basic ingredients since the pandemic struck 4 years ago, but the quality of these Kakes is still decent. They're just not as "tasty" as I remember them back in my heyday of the 70s and 80s.

the downfall of a once incredible product
I am 77 years old and have been eating Tastykake Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes since I was 11 years old. It was my most favorite snack. I still eat them even though they have become difficult due to the chocolate coating becoming vary soft and sticky for about the past year. When opening the cellophane pack and sliding them out the chocolate sticks to the package. I thought maybe if I put them in the refrigerator it would not happen but to my surprise it still stuck to the package and was soft enough to stick to my hands. It seems very strange this problem has not been noticed and corrected when it has been happening for at least a year on every purchase I have made.

Changed recipe
The ones I've purchased over the last month or so are terrible. The peanut butter layer is not the same and I hate it. It's as if someone put a huge wet blob of regular peanut butter straight from a jar on top. I know it sounds weird, but I don't particularly care for peanut butter. I do eat things that have peanut butter that remind me of my childhood and these have always been included, but since they changed the peanut butter that no longer applies. They just don't taste the same anymore.

Timeless taste is gone
Have been buying Tandy Takes for decades. Loved them. Just bought 2 boxes, and had to throw them out as I literally gagged on the product. Let’s not talk about the massive change in size, just the ingredients. It’s now “chocolate coating”…and bad coating at that. Grainy, super sweet, so artificial tasting. Even the peanut butter tastes different, and not in a good way. I am actually saddened and so disappointed that a lifelong (I am 78) treat has been so modified, obviously in cost crunching moves. The change is NOT subtle…and certainly NOT good. Will never buy these again or any TastyKake product as I suspect they have changed all their products in a negative tasting way.

Gutter trash
They decided to replace the chocolate coating with "chocolate covered coating" and it tastes terrible. It was a good snack while it lasted. RIP

Need a magnifying glass and lots of water
Tandykakes were mom's favourite. Feeling nostalgic around the holidays, I thought I'd get a box. What a disappointment. They are soooooo small. Maybe the size of an Oreo (although maybe they're smaller too now). And DRY. They used to be dense but with enough moisture that almost made them like biting a fresh piece of Wonder bread. It's the first box I've bought in the 6 years since her passing and I won't be buying them again. No memories flowed from eating these disks of shame. Your shrinkflation and ingredient corner-cutting has really diminished the quality. Which will eventually hit your bottom line.

After many years I am done
I've been eating peanut butter tasty cakes for many years. Just made a recent purchase and with the new changes that were made these things are horrible I am done will not be eating them anymore. Seeking out a better alternative. Why you mess with these who knows? If it was a save money why didn't you just leave them the same and raise the price? Never again unless you change back to the way they were originally made.
