Powerful beyond music-this is an amazing love story

I'm not in Hollywood, but this is a true cinema classic. I remember going to see this in theatres in the early 1990s when my kids were very young. I couldn't wait for the VHS release--I ended up buying two copies because VHS tapes would wear down very easily the more and more you watched them. I'm so thankful for the dvd release. There are a lot of pop stars who try to act along the way of their Hollywood career but very balance giving a raw and riveting performance both vocally and on screen. Whitney Houston is a rare performer (there are a few) who can and DID master both. Costner is one of my favorite actors, but Houston deserves credit too. Her voice is undeniable--but you don't see Whitney Houston playing Rachel Marron in this movie--you see Rachel Marron who happens to have the energy and talent of Houston. Her passing is very unfortunate, but this film (and soundtrack) is a sensational classic. The chemistry Houston and Costner have is incredible.
