Book Synopsis
Six centuries have passed since the last pestilence almost consumed the race of Men. The Royal Order of Coroners has stood as a bastion of peace against the horrors that plague the Kingdom of Solarno. Now, on the eve of Harvest season, a rolling wall of dark, ominous clouds reaches the Border-realm. Bringing a turbid fog that blocks out the sun and sours the land. A blood moon rises in a pitch-black, fog-laden night. Along with it a horde of unsightly beasts. Riding out to meet the storm is a single coroner, Resurrectionist Paolo Reveré. The Coroner is the last sentinel standing between the innocent people of the realm and a bestial pestilence of murder and melancholy. Justice must be served, and order must be restored. Be it by flame or by cold forged steel.
Review Quotes
"5 stars...Pick up this book now! Great plot, awesome world building, and in-depth characterization." - Aleese Hughes, author of the Inspector Mage Series
"Like many others, I was introduced to fantasy through Tolkien's "The Hobbit". I will never forget how I felt reading that book. That internal explosion of passionate interest pulls you deep into this newfound world. You feel like a prisoner shackled to every word, like an addict who is just unable to satisfy the beast within. This extraordinary feeling has been my marker for what I deem as greatness throughout my journey through the world of fantasy. The way in which Jordan's "The Eye of the World" and Donaldson's "Lord Fouls Bane" grabbed ahold of me from the beginning of the story and left me helplessly longing for more by the end, Nate Fitch with his Coroner series had managed to raise that same level of passion in me once again. Fitch has created a completely new world with depth and detail that is at a minimum on par with, but in my opinion, surpasses that of Erikson's Malazan series and Sanderson's Mistborn. I am a fan of this new author. The fantasy world should pay close attention to author Nate Fitch. This Coroner series is how fantasy/ dark fantasy should be done!" - T.P., AMzRev 5 star review
