The Fixer - by Iris Johansen (Hardcover)

Book Synopsis

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Iris Johansen comes a new thriller in the Eve Duncan series, where a lethal fixer and a brilliant scientist must join forces to save a life--and defend an island home to people Eve holds dear.

Jed Torance has made a career of rescuing people from impossible situations. But when a ruthless crime boss poisons his former SEAL comrade, even the man known as "The Fixer" can't fight his way to an antidote. His search for a cure leads him to San Marino, an island sanctuary already under threat--and to Stevie Nolan, the fiercely independent robotics pioneer his enemy intends to capture.

Under the protection of medical pioneer Diane Connors, Stevie has devoted her life to creating a future for her extraordinary robots, Archie and Benedict. She refuses to let a killer turn them into weapons. Jed may be the island's best hope of stopping him, but trusting a stranger with secrets of his own is another matter. As danger closes in, Stevie and Jed must find a way to work together while Diane races to find a cure for Jed's friend.

When Eve Duncan arrives on San Marino with her son, Michael, she discovers that friends she considers family are in the killer's sights. Eve lends Diane her nursing experience while her husband, Joe Quinn, helps defend the island. With time running out and San Marino under siege, Eve lends her strength to the people she loves, while Jed and Stevie risk everything to protect them.
