Book Synopsis
An addictive psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist that's burning up Instagram, Freida McFadden's The Housemaid is perfect for fans of Ruth Ware, Lisa Jewell, and Verity. "Welcome to the family," Nina Winchester says as I shake her elegant, manicured hand. I smile politely, gazing around the marble hallway. Working here is my last chance to start fresh. I can pretend to be whoever I like. But I'll soon learn that the Winchesters' secrets are far more dangerous than my own... Every day I clean the Winchesters' beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor. I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew's handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it's hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina's life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband. I only try on one of Nina's pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it's like. But she soon finds out... and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it's far too late. But I reassure myself: the Winchesters don't know who I really am. They don't know what I'm capable of...About the Author

This is the third book of Freida's that i have read, and she is such an AMAZING author. She has a way of really pulling you in and keeping you on your toes throughout the whole book. It is so hard to put her books down! I cannot wait to continue reading the other two books in this series! I read this in two days. I had to find out what happens next and it is something you would not expect! Buy this and enjoy! 😄

I liked this book. I'm not one of those overly critical readers, so I give this book a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It's a very easy read. If I had the time I would have finished the book in a day or two. A lot of the "chapters" are literally 2 pages long at a certain point. Practically every major character in the book isn't a sole victim, and is a bit unlikeable; I don't mind this. After a big reveal in the later part of the book, certain things I made notes of about certain characters made a lot of sense. I was not able to guess how this book was going to actually end, and I'm excited to read the next book. My biggest gripe with the book is the main character and her lack of self preservation throughout the majority of the story. She was a convenient dunce throughout the book who stuck her head in the sand until she couldn't anymore. She lacked critical thinking skills and blatantly ignored red flags. At some point you have to use your brain and stop making excuses for other characters. I guess the main character has to be slightly oblivious, but it did get on my nerves. My recommendation is to KEEP READING until the end. I don't regret buying this book.

Very predictable. One dimensional characters. Not convincing, and the ending was wrapped up way too conveniently.

The summary didn't seem like my kind of thing, but this book and author had so many amazing reviews I decided to give it a shot. This was by far the craziest book I have ever read. I had SO many theories throughout this book, and I could not have been more wrong about the plot twist. I never knew what people meant by "quick" or "easy" reads until reading this one. I normally have to reread several sentences a few times to process, but I was flying through this book and loving every second of it. I will definitely be picking up the sequels and more books by Frieda. I'm fascinated by how this woman's mind works to create such a wild, unpredictable story. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

This book got me back into reading, had me on the edge of my seat every step of the way. I’ve seen reviews saying it’s very predictable. I don’t agree. It’s actually very unpredictable and I love it. I love how the chapters are not too long. It keeps you flipping through the pages best book of all time.

Great read. I ordered the sequel before I even finished it because I was just that into it. I appreciated the plot twist. When it seemed predictable, bam, there was a wrench and twist in the story.
