Book Synopsis

Move freely and without pain for the rest of your life with this practical guide from one of North America's leading orthopaedic surgeons and a former doctor for a Major League Baseball team.

Do you find that your body is becoming stiff and sore as you get older? Do little aches and pains come back--or get worse--even after you rest? Are you worried that your body is breaking down and you won't be able to live a healthy, active life? These are normal concerns people have, but they are often addressed with band-aid fixes: painkillers, massages, temporary stretching, and exercises from a doctor or physiotherapist. Unfortunately, the pain often returns.

The truth is that you can move freely and without pain for the rest of your life--if you address the root cause of your issues. Devised by Dr. Erin Boynton, former orthopaedic surgeon to the Toronto Blue Jays, The Injury Guide not only offers the movement routines that will help your body heal; it also reveals the reasons why our bodies break down in the first place so you can take preventative action. Armed with the information in The Injury Guide, you will be able to manage your pain, heal your injuries, and keep moving forever.

"As somebody who needed his body to hold up for a 162-game season, I know how much wear and tear can affect performance on the field and quality of life off it. I had the pleasure of being treated by Dr. Boynton during a particular tough time in my career, after I'd torn my left quadriceps. Her skill and expertise allowed me to get back on the field much sooner than expected. The Injury Guide is a must-read for anyone--whether you're an MLB All-Star or a 'weekend warrior'--looking to limit injuries, decrease pain, and stay on top of their game." --Mark Teixeira, former MLB All-Star and World Series Champion

"The Injury Guide is a great tool for anyone with a current injury or looking to prevent future injuries. You don't have to be a professional athlete to benefit from the exercises described. Creating a solid foundation for movement is crucial to injury reversal and long-term health. I loved how I was able to gain a better understanding of how injuries occur and how to heal the body through movement. As a professional athlete, I have found Dr. Boynton's knowledge to be an invaluable asset in my quest to master my craft and maximize my potential. I have performed all of the exercises described in this book at various times in my career. I believe that movement is medicine, and The Injury Guide is a pill everyone should swallow." --Gaby Dabrowski, three-time Grand-Slam Champion

"The Injury Guide is a resource for wellness, a coach for lifelong movement, and a tool to reset your pain so that you can live a full, active life. I can hear Dr. Boynton's voice on every page. Her comprehensive but simple descriptions and empathetic tone reassure me that I can heal. The Injury Guide helped me recognize the compensations--the little warning flags--that we can proactively manage and correct to avoid the inevitable injury, pain, or surgery. The book is a window into Dr. Boynton's knowledge and expertise and the closest thing to having a movement coach, physiotherapist, chiropractor, and orthopaedic surgeon at your fingertips.
