"You're about to learn, Henry Martin, that I always get my way." -Ella Ella is planning to take over The Last Page, the book store she grew up in, but her plans get turned upside down when Henry shows up. Leo, the owner, has been preparing Ella for the day she'll own the store herself but she's shocked to find that after Leo's passing, he didn't leave the store to her. He left it to his estranged grandson, Henry. After arriving at the store Henry sees the connection Ella had with Leo and is desperate to have that kind of connection to his grandfather. He is tries to connect with Leo through the store, since he can no longer physically connect with him. Overall, I enjoyed this book. I love the idea of working in a book store and The Last Page is the type of bookstore I'd want to work in. Coworkers that are like family, even if they're a little irritating at some points. A store with history. Owners that truly love reading and want everyone to be able to read. This book was magical because of the bookstore. Anyone who had their nose stuck in a book as a child (or still does now as an adult) will love the way this bookstore wraps its arms around you in a cozy hug. I think both Ella and Henry take a moment for you to love them. Ella is so much determination and it can be overwhelming at first. Henry is very calculated and smart when it comes to business, and that overshadows his sweet and kind personality. As the story progresses and each character's personality start to emerge, I understood where they were coming from and why they acted the way they did. This book was fun, nostalgic and every book lovers dream. What this book has: ✔️Side characters that'll make you laugh ✔️Main characters that start out as enemies ✔️A sweet bookstore owner who's side story will pull on your heartstrings ✔️A little anxiety with a lot of determination With audio books, the narrator[s] can make or break the book, and [Elena Rey and Dan John Miller] did a phenomenal job brining Ella and Henry to life and sharing the story of The Last Page.
