Well, that was so flipping good! I really liked The Last Flight and dang if this wasn’t even better. It’s hard to say much without spoilers, but I loved the con artist stories and the feminist undertones throughout the whole book. I also loved that it takes place on the west side of LA - I could picture it all so vividly since it’s literally my neighborhood. So satisfying, and such a fast read! I couldn’t put my his down and finished in less than 24 hours, and I’m still thinking about it weeks later.

Wow! What a twisted journey this was! I loved this con story more than I could ever imagine. The con within a con intrigued me and with each additional bit of information shared with the reader, I became more engrossed in the story of these two ladies. While Kat and Meg each had things that were undesirable for a heroine in a story, they were both some of the most interesting characters I’ve read in quite some time. I was sure that I would find myself harshly judging Meg, despite her early beginnings. There were definitely times that her actions merited that judgment. However, as her journey is slowly revealed and each layer of her past and the progression that brought her into the current time and place is exposed, I actually was cheering her on. And I didn’t have a clue how it was all going to end. Kat was a bit harder to connect with, which was surprising considering her place in the story. However, a twist here, another there, and I couldn’t wait to see what Kat’s end result was going to be. I have to confess, I had a lump in my throat as I read those last few lines. This has a slower pace to it, but was impossible to put down. Nothing is repetitive and while this isn’t filled with drama, danger, and lots of action, it was fraught with tension as these characters move through the inevitable actions they’ve either designed or hunted for. I highly recommend this to those who enjoy a mystery within a mystery and unique characters that you’ll never forget.
