About the Book

Two enemies, two lovers. Which will she choose, and which will she destroy? The one who's forced her to be his personal mercenary, or the one who's always doubted her?

Book Synopsis

She's waited six long years for her revenge.

Karalevine Ruzz was born with a mysterious star mark on her chest. A mark that gives her powers, but worse... it also gives her problems.

One of those problems comes in the form of the prince of Arianyte. However, Prince Malakyte is no knight in shining armor. He wears all black and his words always have a double meaning. Malakyte has one mission:

Find Karalevine and make her his.

Kara also has one sole objective: to destroy the Arianyte Empire.

After kidnapping her best friend, Kara is determined to bring down the empire that took everything from her.

Yet, once Kara infiltrates the empire, the lines between who's good and who's bad begins to blur, her new team becoming too much like the family she's always longed for.

They have the answers she needs. She has the power Prince Malakyte wants.

Neither of them know that she's a spy for the rebellion.

Let the chaos begin.

Crescent City meets Sailor Moon in this mind-bending mashup of fantasy and science fiction that's made for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Carissa Broadbent, and Rebecca Yarros. If you're ready for wild twists on traditional romantasy while also keeping the tropes you love like enemies to lovers, forced proximity, fated mates, and found family, do not be the one to miss out on this epic read that'll have you chucking the book across the room.

Review Quotes

Nikki things, "I have to admit the character development and world building were absolutely amazing. The world that you're thrown into from Federico will captivate you and leave you turning the pages so fast to find out what's going to happen next. The plot held my interest with all the twists and turns. Trust me you'll want to read this. Be prepared for a wild ride."

Lindsey raves, "The Mark of Chaos and Creation was INCREDIBLE!

5/5 easily!

Once this book got moving, it moved! Like glued to the page, taking the book to breakfast lunch and dinner and all the toilet breaks in-between type of glued to the page! 🤪

First of all! ALIENS WITH MAGIC. Are you kidding me?! It's everything my nerdy heart could ever want. Secondly, fast moving plot! Which I love.

World building- stellar and not "here is all you need to know in one exposition" you learn more as you read

How's the main character? I LOVED HER! Her motivations were so clear in every part stringing me along her journey masterfully.

Tropes: aliens 👽, dystopian, magic, enemies to lovers!

I got to read this book as an ARC but I will be buying my own hard copy because I need to reread, annotate-and reread again. THANK YOU FOR GETTING ME OUT OF MY READING SLUMP."

Goodreads reviews:

Hailey says, "Finally, a dystopian book that lives up to the standards The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner set that few books have lived up to since then while adding in amazing fantasy elements!"

Hannah's remarks, "Review: The Mark of Chaos and Creation by Arabella Federico kept every promise this book made to me. It promised aliens, spirituality, feminine rage, and a strong female hero. I adored the main character mainly for her feminine rage and the way she drives the story along makes you not want to put it down. The world building is other worldly and like nothing I have read before. I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to read this. My overall rating for this book is 4.75/5."

Teanne raves, "This book is Fantastic!!! It took me a bit to get in to it.. and catch up with the characters, but once you get past the first couple chapters it's like forget about life this is where all your attention goes!

The things Kara goes though just unreal and the interactions between her and the other characters (no spoilers) is crazy! Always keeps you on your toes. when you think you have figured it out.. you haven't plot twist! Arabella is an amazing writer!

The worst part about this book was the ending... I needed more!! I could not get enough!

Now I'm just patiently waiting for the next book!"

The Mark of Chaos and Creation by Arabella K. Federico is a unique fantasy journey. Dystopian Earth is in accord with the Arianyte to help Earth and its people survive. Throughout this story, we meet some key players who take you on a journey to save Earth and uncover the truth. Karalevine Ruzz has an unknown origin, lost the only family she knew, and doesn’t realize the magnitude of the role she will play in the future of Arianyte and Earth. There is a lot to uncover in this story and a lot of information in this fantasy novel. I found it easier to keep up with the audiobook versus reading because of how in-depth it was. At times I felt there was so much information and world-building, along with some repetitiveness, that it slowed the first half of the book down. Once everything was established and the main plot of the story picked up, the book moved at an enjoyable and exciting pace. I feel like diving too deep would give away so many spoilers. The star seeds and their ringers are tasked by Arianyte to stop Deimos. As each of them works together, they soon realize there is so much more going on. Arabella captured the loss Kara felt on so many levels in a way that the reader could feel it in their bones. The sadness and lost feelings don't go away. The trust that takes so many years and consistency from another person to build This FMC grew a lot in this story as a young adult, not only in maturity but also in her ability to believe in herself. Ardelle, Jance, Pacey, and Malakyte are secondary characters that bring out the best and worst in Kara. I loved Pacey as the girl best friend. I hope we get to see that connection grow in book two. Jance leaves me with SO MANY QUESTIONS! Ardelle and Malakyte both put Kara through the spin cycle. I kinda don’t like either one of them very much. My goal is for Kara to save herself without a man. This story is pure fantasy with hints of attraction. I am here for all of that. I cannot wait to see what Book 2 offers. Overall, if you like dystopian fantasy, then I recommend this book. I don’t think readers will be disappointed at all. It is a cliffhanger, so if you need to wait for book 2, you can grab them both when that releases. The main plot of the story isn’t completely done. I did guess the surprise at the end, but I blame that on my mystery-loving self, and I’m sure readers will love the little nugget Arabella leaves us with.
