Review Quotes
The Puppy Adventures of Porter and Midge Out and About, is a very well thought out book containing all aspects of owning a puppy and the responsibilities as owners to nurture their new family member on the importance of proper care that can greatly influence the life of their dog as it gets older.
As a professional service dog trainer, obedience and agility instructor and handler, this book provides great insight and details of the importance of socialization, obedience, and basic manners training from early on when the puppy is first brought home and continued through the life of their pet, and proper veterinary care and immunizations. It is written in a way that a child can easily read and understand what is being said in the book. I especially like the detailed checklist at the back of the book that provides many of the training situations, skills, behaviors, sights, smells, sounds, surfaces, movements, and more that are critical to expose the new puppy to in order to have a healthy, happy, calm and confident puppy so that when it grows up, it can handle and overcome any life challenges it may incur by having early exposure and positive experiences trained as a puppy into adulthood. - Karen Morin, Professional Service Dog Trainer
This book is 'must have' for anyone who loves dogs and great book for gifts for your kids and grandkids who also want to or already have a dog or puppy! It is such an effective way to teach people of all ages how to help your own dogs to become more confident and well-behaved companions in the context of a beautifully illustrated children's book. Love how the illustrations are actual places in Austin, TX too! I highly recommend referencing the training list as well. The practicality of this book has re-inspired me to do a better job of getting my own Mastiffs out and about more as older puppies to continue to do more consistent socialization. Five stars! - Dolly Moore, Monastic Mastiffs
