Book Synopsis

A moving and universal picture book about empathy and kindness, sure to soothe heartaches big and small--now a New York Times bestseller and a perfect gift for any special occasion

When something sad happens, Taylor doesn't know where to turn. All the animals are sure they have the answer. The chicken wants to talk it out, but Taylor doesn't feel like chatting. The bear thinks Taylor should get angry, but that's not quite right either. One by one, the animals try to tell Taylor how to act, and one by one they fail to offer comfort. Then the rabbit arrives. All the rabbit does is listen . . . which is just what Taylor needs.

With its spare, poignant text and irresistibly sweet illustration, The Rabbit Listened is about how to comfort and heal the people in your life, by taking the time to carefully, lovingly, gently listen.

Very cute book – it provided a good lesson for my toddler who has big emotional responses. The illustrations were adorable. The only reason I gave it four stars was the price.

I have now purchased this book 3 times - for my own kids, for my therapy office, & for a gift. I’m sure I’ll be gifting more of these. It is a well loved book by my own kids & as a therapist, it’s such a beautiful & relatable way to teach empathy & the power of just being present.

Not only is this book an adorable and gentle bedside story with cute pictures, but the message is a great way to connect with your child: when my son is upset sometimes we ask if he wants us to "be like the rabbit."

Such a cute book about empathy! I love the message: sometimes, all we need to do is listen to those in pain instead of trying to fix the situation. It has pretty, understated illustrations, and it’s one of our favorites!
