Book Synopsis
From May Kay Andrews, the New York Times bestselling author of Hello, Summer, comes a novella celebrating the magic of Christmas and second chances in The Santa Suit.
When newly-divorced Ivy Perkins buys an old farmhouse sight unseen, she is definitely looking for a change in her life. The Four Roses, as the farmhouse is called, is a labor of love--but Ivy didn't bargain on just how much labor. The previous family left so much furniture and so much junk, that it's a full-time job sorting through all of it. At the top of a closet, Ivy finds an old Santa suit--beautifully made and decades old. In the pocket of a suit she finds a note written in a childish hand: it's from a little girl who has one Christmas wish, and that is for her father to return home from the war. This discovery sets Ivy off on a mission. Who wrote the note? Did the man ever come home? What mysteries did the Rose family hold? Ivy's quest brings her into the community, at a time when all she wanted to do was be left alone and nurse her wounds. But the magic of Christmas makes miracles happen, and Ivy just might find more than she ever thought possible: a welcoming town, a family reunited, a mystery solved, and a second chance at love.About the Author

"The Santa Suit" by Mary Kay Andrews is an utterly adorable tale brimming with holiday magic. Ivy, a recently divorced woman, takes a leap of faith by moving to a small town and purchasing an outdated farmhouse, where she meets Ezra, her realtor and perfect handyman. While exploring the remnants of the previous owners' belongings, Ivy stumbles upon a Santa suit with a touching note inside, setting her on a mission to discover if a young girl's wish was ever granted. As Ivy's journey unfolds, she encounters a cast of wonderful characters who weave magic into her life. Filled with themes of hope, new beginnings, possibilities, lost connections, and forgiveness, the book resonates with depth. Notable side characters like the old man Lawrence and the charming courthouse girl Phoebe add to the story's richness. Surprises toward the end evoke emotional moments that had me reaching for tissues. While a visual description of Ivy and Ezra would have been appreciated, the story is a heartwarming exploration of starting over, healing, and embracing bravery. Packed with Christmas magic, it delivers on its promise, and Ezra emerges as a total book boyfriend. Every moment of this tale is a joy, making it a must-add to your Christmas reading list. Highly recommended!

[gifted in exchange for honest review] The Santa suit was a delightful book covered in a bit of Christmas magic! A quick read, this book gave me cozy feels in a small town holiday setting. I loved Ivy’s character and her transformation. She came to town as a city girl who bought a farm house she had never seen in person and a little on the self centered side to finding real friends, a true home, and life she loves. Ezra was a sweet hero and the side storyline of finding what happened to the girl in the note found in the Santa suit was fun to read! I would have loved if it was a bit longer and possibly more of the romance between Ivy and Ezra. The Santa Suit is out now! Thank you @smpromance for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review

Ivy Perkins, freshly divorced, decides to buy Four Roses Farm…sight unseen. Her and her dog, Punkin, arrive in North Carolina only to find a very handsome realtor waiting to hand over the keys. Before long Ivy finds a note in the old Santa suit in her closet and a mission to find the author begins. This novella was filled with small town charm, a budding romance, and lifelong dreams being fulfilled. The Christmas magic within these pages is enchanting! Again, this is a novella so it clocks in at just over 200 pages. It’s short, sweet, and ALL Christmas. My only qualm is how quickly it wrapped up, however, I did love the ending. I could easily see this being made into a Hallmark Christmas movie! Definitely one to pick up this holiday season!
A heartwarming read!

This is Mary Kay Andrews first holiday novel! I could see this book being made into a Hallmark movie! After Ivy’s divorce, she decides to move from big city to small town life, in order to start over in a place where no one knows her. Ivy buys a farmhouse online and unseen, so when she shows up, it’s in more disrepair than advertised and it has not been cleaned out. In the process of cleaning it out, she finds a trunk that has a Santa suit and old children’s letter’s addressed to Santa. Will she uncover the mystery surrounding it? Will she be able to adjust to small town life? As the story unfolds, this heartwarming book will keep you entertained by all of Ivy’s misfortunes turned around by the help of the new community where she is supported and loved. I loved how Mary Kay Andrews added in the element of connecting the past to present! Also including a mystery, but this time it’s surrounding a Santa suit instead of a murder! This holiday book checks all the boxes for a good holiday read!

Ivy Perkins has been divorced nine months to the day when she arrives to move into the Four Roses Farm. She finds the farmhouse not looking quite like it did in the pictures and the house full of furniture the seller did not want. In master bedroom closet, she finds a box contains a beautiful Santa suit. In the pocket, she finds an old letter addressed to Santa asking him to bring the little girl’s father home for Christmas. Ivy is curious as to what happened to the girl and her family. She begins asking questions which allows her to meet various townspeople. Christmas magic is at work and Ivy finds soon finds herself swept up into town happenings and helping others. The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews is a sweet, uplifting Christmas story. I thought The Santa Suit was well-written with steady pacing (it was over too soon). It contains developed, realistic characters. There are some great characters in the story. I liked Ivy and her adorable dog, Punkin. The mystery was fun to follow, and I love how it turned out. I liked the town of Tarburton and Four Roses Farm. I would love to own Ivy’s lovely farm. There is some romance in the story, but it is not the main attraction. The Santa Suit is a story that will make you smile and put you in the mood for the holidays. The Santa Suit is a sweet Christmas tale with cuddly canine, a striking Santa Suit, pictures from the past, a lost letter, creative candy creations, fairy-tale lights, and second chances.
