Book Synopsis
Take your love of skiing to the next level with more than 100 bucket list experiences that will transport you to iconic ski resorts, famous slopes, and cozy lodges around the world. Around a century after the first skiers strapped wooden boards to their feet and started sliding down mountains, skiing has become a popular pastime across the globe. Author Patrick Thorne, aka "The Snow Hunter," draws on four decades of year-round research and writing about ski vacations, as well as visiting countless ski destinations across the US, to share with you the ultimate list of "must ski" trips and adventures. Throughout this book, Patrick celebrates both the charming, family-run ski areas alongside the world-renowned skiing destinations, curating an entertaining array of bucket list goals that both causal skiers and die-hard powder hounds can achieve, including:- Skiing the steepest ski runs in America Riding the world's highest ski lift Wearing a retro ski suit Night skiing under the Northern Lights Trying heli-skiing And so much more!
About the Author
Working as "The Snow Hunter," Patrick Thorne has spent his entire adult life making a living as a year-round ski travel writer. Along with editing ski magazines and websites, Patrick has written for hundreds of magazines and newspapers around the world, winning multiple awards for his work. He has written or contributed to a dozen ski books, from his first, The Essential Ski Holiday Guide, in 1984, which published when he was just 20 years old, to his best-selling book Powder. In the 1990s, Patrick built the world's first database of over 6,000 ski areas worldwide, which still sits behind many ski websites. Passionate about snow, he's been following weather conditions closely for four decades and runs the SaveOurSnow.com site aimed at helping in the fight to slow climate change. Patrick first skied aged 15 and has since visited more than 250 ski areas across the globe. He lives and works from an 8-acre croft (small farm) in the Highlands of Scotland where he can ski in his back field whenever there's an inch of snow. He and his wife, Sally, have three sons, two daughters-in-law, and one granddaughter, all of whom they ski with whenever they can. They also have two ponies, two dogs, two cats, eight hens, and 500 Christmas trees, none of which ski.Dimensions (Overall): 8.25 Inches (H) x 5.5 Inches (W)
