He received the Distinguished Alumnus Award (1993) and an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree (2010) from North Park University, and a bachelor's degree in psychology, and later his master's and doctorate degrees, as well as the Alumni Achievement Award (2003)--the highest award they can give one of their own--from the University of Arizona. Originally from Williamsville, New York, Dr. Leman and his wife, Sande, live in Tucson, Arizona, and have five children and four grandchildren.

Kristin Leman O'Reilly is the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at the award-winning Leman Academy of Excellence, a public, classical, charter school with nine campuses throughout Arizona and Colorado, overseeing curriculum and the Leman educational philosophy.
Kristin began her educational journey nearly three decades ago and has an M.A. in Teaching, a B.A. in Elementary Education, and a B.A. in Psychology. She has taught in both private and charter schools, holding various leadership roles as Curriculum Coordinator, Professional Development Administrator, and Vice Principal.
She is passionate about mentoring teachers and training them to be lifelong learners to inspire the next generation of leaders. She created the Teacher Recognition Program at Leman Academy to honor teachers and shower them with the appreciation they deserve. She annually trains nearly 400 incoming and resident Leman Academy teachers, as well as supporting them throughout the year with ongoing Professional Development workshops.
Kristin, her husband Dennis, and children, Conner and Adeline, reside in Tucson, Arizona.
