Book Synopsis
Heart-pounding superhero, sci-fi, and fantasy action from the best Nigerian comics talent! The YouNeek YouNiverse is a vibrant, interconnected world of African-inspired superhero, sci-fi, and fantasy stories, unfolding across multiple time periods. These epic tales are brought to life through award-winning graphic novel series such as Iyanu: Child of Wonder (soon to be an animated series on Cartoon Network/MAX), Malika: Warrior Queen (winner of the GLYPH Award for "Story of the Year"), E.X.O. The Legend of Wale Williams (named one of NPR's "Best Books of 2021"), and WindMaker (recipient of the NOMMO Award for "Best Graphic Novel"), among others. For the first time, experience a taste of each of these groundbreaking series in a monumental, value-priced compilation!Review Quotes
"Okupe has clearly demonstrated a range of writing styles, whilst keeping the idea of African culture and history alive. By having the proponent as a child, Okupe allows for a simpler worldview to contrast the more political aspects."--Comic Crusaders
About the Author
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Roye Okupe is an award-winning filmmaker, author, speaker, and entrepreneur whose passion for comics and animation led him to found YouNeek Studios in 2012. Under that umbrella, Roye wrote, produced, and directed several animated productions including, but not limited to, the award-winning and critically acclaimed Malika-Warrior Queen animated short film. These productions have allowed Roye to attain many prestigious recognitions such as being #5 on the Ventures Africa list of "40 African Innovators to Watch" (2016), as well as being part of New African Magazine's "100 Most Influential Africans" two years in a row (2016 and 2017). In August 2015, Roye's debut graphic novel, E.X.O.: The Legend of Wale Williams Part One was received with critical acclaim and has since been featured on CNN, Forbes, The New York Times, NBC, The Guardian, ABC7, BBC, The Huffington Post, Mashable, and more!Dimensions (Overall): 10.16 Inches (H) x 6.62 Inches (W) x .3 Inches (D)
