Description
Honk! Honk! It's gridlock and the little red car can't move. The player is a traffic cop in the Rush Hour Traffic Jam Puzzle where the objective is to get the red car off the road. To play, pick one of 40 challenge cards; solutions are printed on the back of each card. Then set up the cars and buses in a specified pattern on the 6-inch-square road grid. Move the vehicles one by one (obey those traffic laws!) until the red car can escape the traffic jam. There are four levels of difficulty. Kids can alternate turns with another player or just "play in traffic" alone. The game from Binary Arts received a national award from Mensa and is used in elementary school math classes. The design includes clear instructions printed on the sturdy box, which can be used both as a playing tray and for storage. The game cards stow away in a drawer in the road grid.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn't sure what to expect from this game because of the tiny plastic cars and trucks and I don't have younger children. But to my surprise there are prearranged cards that have 4 levels from beginner through expert that is fun for the whole family. The premise of the game is to arrange different cars and trucks around the red car, which you have to get free of the board. The game is for 8+ but advanced and expert level really make you think. It's actually a pretty fun game.

The Rush Hour game keeps my kids busy for hours, as it is a strategy game. It has varying levels, so it's perfect for all age ranges. To be honest, my youngest was frustrated at first because he couldn't figure out how to get the red car. Now, 8 weeks later, he has come up with ways to get the car out. I love the fact that the game isn't bulky, so we can easily travel with it on our road trips. I also really love that it provides hours of entertainment without screens. Overall, this is a fantastic game for kids, and I highly recommend it.
