Description
Three Deco units work together to create a single network that provides coverage up to 5,500 sq. ft. and keeps your devices connected even as you move around.[1] AC1200 dual-band WiFi speeds ensure a smoother gaming and streaming experience.[1,5]
Deco creates a network with a single name and password to keep all your devices connected as you move from room to room.[3]
Self-healing technology automatically reroutes WiFi traffic if one of your Deco units goes down or loses power, so you can always stay connected.
Deco also uses MU-MIMO technology to communicate with multiple devices at once, reducing wait time, and allowing everyone to hop online simultaneously.[4]
With the Deco, setup is easy. Simply plug a Deco unit into your modem, install the Deco app, and follow the in-app instructions for easy step-by-step setup.
With parental controls, you can also easily monitor web activities, create separate profiles for each family member, control how much time they spend online, and block inappropriate websites.

[1] Maximum wireless transmission rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Range and coverage specifications along with the number of connected devices were defined according to test results under normal usage conditions. Actual wireless transmission rate, wireless coverage, and number of connected devices are not guaranteed, and will vary as a result of 1) environmental factors, including building materials, physical objects and obstacles, 2) network conditions, including local interference, volume and density of traffic, product location, network complexity, and network overhead and 3) client limitations, including rated performance, location, connection quality, and client condition.
[2] Internet plans greater than 100 Mbps will be limited by the product’s Ethernet WAN port.
[3] Seamless roaming/No-Drop Wi-Fi refers to the Wi-Fi roaming that supports IEEE 802.11 k/v/r protocol, helping connected devices search and shift from one AP to another within 0.3 second. Clients need to support 802.11 k/v/r and may require additional setup. Performance may vary depending on the client device.
[4] MU-MIMO capability requires client devices that also support MU-MIMO.
[5] Actual network speed may be limited by the rate of the product's Ethernet WAN or LAN port, the rate supported by the network cable, Internet service provider factors and other environmental conditions.

Q: Which product do I purchase to add extensions to this specific system?
A: Hi! All TP-Link Deco Mesh Wi-Fi System models are inter-compatible. You can expand your existing Deco Mesh network using the same model, or other Deco Mesh models, depending on your networking preferences and needs. If you plan to primarily use the Wi-Fi backhaul when deploying your Deco nodes, you can have up to 10 Deco nodes within a Deco Mesh network. More than 10 nodes in a single Deco Mesh network is possible if using the Ethernet Backhaul.

Q: The Orbi I'm looking to replace has issues connecting devices needing 2g (no problem w/5g devices) - will TP-Link AC1200 perform better? Is there tech assistance avail for config settings?
A: Hi there! It sounds like you might be in an environment with heavy 2.4GHz congestion. In modern network environments, it is common for neighboring 2.4GHz wireless networks to overlap, causing Wi-Fi congestion and interference. This is especially true in locations where numerous Wi-Fi networks overlap, such as apartments. By changing the 2.4GHz wireless channel, you might be able to improve wireless signal strength, bandwidth, and stability.

Q: Hi. i have the AC 1750. If i get these, will they link to my existing unit or will my 1750 be obsolete?
A: Hi! This Deco Mesh Wi-Fi system is designed to replace your existing router. While you can technically choose to use your existing AC1750 router as your primary router, this would typically require you to configure the Deco in Access Point Mode, which will disable the Deco's routing features. However, if you want to simplify your network and have Mesh Wi-Fi coverage, we suggest configuring the Deco as your primary router.

Q: will this work if I plug a cable directly into the modem and the have the Wi-Fi mesh network set up at the other end of the cable in the garage?
A: Hi! Absolutely - as long as the Ethernet cable length is no greater than 100 meters / 328 feet (maximum length for reliable data transmission over Ethernet cable).

Q: satelite internet - window router gets signal from antennas on router. Would I connect one TP-Link to the router and then place the other two strategically to establish my coverage area? Do the other two just require electrical plug to be online?
A: Hi! Yes, just one Deco unit needs to be connected to your existing network (e.g. to your router) via Ethernet. The remaining satellite units can be placed throughout your home, plugged into a power source, and will then connect to the Deco network via Mesh WiFi. This process is convenient and intuitively achieved via the Deco app on your smartphone.

Q: How does this work exactly - will this keep my son from lagging downstairs if I place one downstairs in his playroom?
A: Our Deco Mesh WiFi systems are designed to provide robust, seamless Mesh WiFi for your whole home. If your son's WiFi experience is laggy due to your existing WiFi router's signal being poor at his location, then a Mesh WiFi solution such as this should help improve overall WiFi coverage once properly installed.
