Q: Is the writing surface smooth or will paper pick up a wood pattern/designs if pencil is used for shading on paper?

A: The writing surface does have a texture, so we suggest using a notebook, or a writing pad between single sheets of paper and this desk.

The table came in all of it's 70 pound glory and I was so excited for my husband to put together. Well, the pieces were not cut correctly and the screw holes didn't line up on half of the parts. After 2 and a half hours of trying we packed it back into the box and it was returned. I really wanted this beautiful table but the wood pieces just weren't having it.
