Trellis by Breaking Games is a game of zen and blossoms. For 2-4 players, ages 10 and up, Trellis is a game where players plant tiles in order to create a growing tableau of beautiful vines. Each tile adds more vines and an opportunity to grow flowers that bloom through matching colored vines. First to play all their flowers completes the Trellis. The game takes about 20 minutes to play.
This is an extremely good gateway game to the world of tabletop Euro-games. It's only 20 min. Very light in thinking. you know those friends of yours who say "they don't like boardgames" try this one on them and it might just enjoy it. Very lovely and straightforward. For those of you who already play Carcassonne, Lanterns, or Tsuro. This is on the same level of Tsuro but not as strategy thinking as Lanterns or Carcasonne. I wouldn't recommend this for little kids, the lucky-charm-like pieces might get lost. If you already play Lanterns or Carcasonne, skip this game because it might be boring for you.
I bought this game because it looks pretty, and the game play is as marvelous as the visual appeal of this game. It is a laid-back tile-placing game. The game play is simple but can grow complicated when you have 3-4 players because you have to watch where you place tiles to not help your opponents' vines grow. A similar game to this is Lanterns. While this game can be played with 2 players, I think 3-4 is the best number to play with.
