I use one of these mounted under my desk in my home office. The receptacles themselves are high quality - they hold onto some heavy wall-warts with no problems at all. The remote switch is a nice feature, allowing me to turn off my equipment without crawling under the desk. Only complaint is that I wish the switch came with more fasteners - with only the two provided it's a bit wobbly.

The remote switch lets you put the plugs in another location and make the power switch in an accessible area for turning off all protected devices.

the unit is great and I always wanted a distant on/off switch so I could shut off all items as I leave home without bending down as the remote on/off cable can be put at a convenient height closeby.

We had multiple electronic/electrical devices on our nightstands beside the bed, and they were plugged into multiple outlets near the bed. Some of the outlets had surge protection, while others did not. By placing this one unit behind the headboard, and plugging all our devices into it, we consolidated the wiring out of sight behind the bed, as well as provided surge protection for all of them. I researched surge protectors online, and this one was the absolute best for our application.
