Book Synopsis
The progress and goals of the ITER project, i.e., international nuclear fusion research and engineering megaproject aimed at creating energy through a fusion process similar to that of the Sun, reflect the important role and service conditions of plasma-oriented materials. The book desbribes the composition, structure control, properties and processing methods of tungsten matrix materials and introduces the way to solve the brittleness of tungsten matrix materials. The ability and damage mechanism of tungsten matrix materials to withstand heat load and radiation damage are described in detail, and the improvement and development direction for material selection, module manufacturing and heat load testing of diverter are put forward.
About the Author
Yucheng Wu, PhD, Professor of Materials Science, doctoral supervisor, former Vice President of Hefei University of Technology (2008-2017), President of Taiyuan University of Technology (2017-2020). Senior visiting scholar of the University of Stuttgart in Germany (2001-2002), honorary professor of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia, University of St. Andrews in the UK, etc., He is named as young scientific and technological experts in China's machinery industry, and enjoys the special allowance experts with outstanding contributions to The State Council government of China. He serves as a member of the Teaching Steering Committee for Materials Science and Engineering of the Ministry of Education, a member of the Certification Committee for Materials Science and Engineering of China, a vice chairman of the Chinese Society of Materials Heat Treatment, a vice chairman of the Chinese Society of Instrument Functional Materials, etc. He served as the director of the Key Laboratory of "New Material Interface Science and Engineering" of the Ministry of Education, the director of the National - Local Joint Engineering Research Center of "Non-ferrous Metal Materials and Processing Technology", the national Innovation and intelligence base of "Clean Energy New Materials and Technology", and the head of the international science and Technology Cooperation base of "Advanced Energy and Environmental Materials". He is also an editorial board member of Chinese Journal of Non-Ferrous Metals (Chinese and English), Functional Materials, Journal of Materials Heat Treatment (Deputy Chairman), Tungsten (Deputy Chairman), etc.He is mainly engaged in the research of energy materials including nuclear fusion materials, nano-functional materials. In recent years, he has presided over more than 40 research projects such as major national basic research projects, international cooperation projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, international cooperation projects, national key new product research programs, and major science and technology research projects of the Ministry of Education of China. More than 300 papers have been published in academic journals at home and abroad, such as In Nature Communications, Materials Today, Science Advances, Advanced Materials, Advanced Energy. He edited one textbook of the national quality course "Engineering Materials Basis" and one textbook of "Introduction to Materials Science and Engineering", published 11 works and authorized more than 70 invention patents.
