Description
Disney and Pixar’s Turning Red introduces Mei Lee, a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming, is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited, she “poofs” into a giant red panda!

I normally enjoy animated movies, but the mother is way overdone (too outrageous to believe at all) and most of it is about a girl’s interest in boys (middle school drama that I avoided when I was in school). Was really looking forward to it and was disappointed. Then again, I guess I was not a “normal” middle school kid because I was into books, art and learning with my friends rather than that drama. And I have friends whose parents were OVER protective, and they have nothing on this mom. I mean, just because her daughter drew a picture of a boy, she instantly thinks that he kissed her and goes storming up to him at his job to show him the pictures her daughter drew, embarrassing her in front of everyone there. Come on! That was stupid. On the good side, I like that it happens in Canada, the animation is great and I can image that doing the work for the panda took the animators a lot of time to create right. But the storyline lacked BIG TIME.

I’m so happy I got to rewatch and own the movie on blu ray disc with deleted scenes and outtakes. Also, I’m into 4 town music and listening to every song from every other day.

Joyful movie. Ignore ignorant people hating a “coming of age” story involving a girl. Americans are crazy but that’s what makes this movie amazing too; it’s Canadian

A Realistic Mom - 1 year ago
This movie was cute, funny & all about coming of age. Ridiculous that some parents think they can avoid that conversation forever. if you’ve ever been a cringey 13 year old (you definitely have) you’ll enjoy this movie reminding you just how cringey you were.

NOT RECOMMEND for young boys!! This movie is about a girl starting her period. Sexualizing boys And as mentioned in the movie (STRIPPER MUSIC) !!!! Really Disney can’t think of anything else? Awkward having my 7year old son watch this and the moms talking about pads and giving her pads. Read other reviews to better understand my point of view!! 0 stars. I returned it!!!
