Your Saturday morning just got cuter with the sweet Suburban Shopper, a classic reproduction of Barbie’s favorite sundress, originally released by Mattel in 1959. In mint condition from Unique Vintage, this beautiful frock is cast in a soft textured weave while darling embellished and embroidered stripes and dainty accents lend a gorgeous design. The princess seamed bodice features a square neckline and classic wide shoulder straps while the seamed waist tops a gathered swing skirt that flairs out with enough room for a petticoat pop. Outfitted with side pockets to stow away some apples and oranges and complete with a retro back zipper to cinch in your figure. The farmer’s market is your happy place, dear!

    Beautiful Dress, Runs Small

    I absolutely love this dress, however it runs really small. I’m 5’2, weigh 107, and normally wear a size 2 petite. The XS and S were too small so I ordered a medium. The medium is a bit big on me so I’m going to have it altered. But I love it so I’m going to make it work. ;-)

    Barbie Dreams

    Cute but way too small. I purchased this dress after wanting it for so long and in hopes to wear it for my wedding anniversary and now I won’t be able to wear it. It’s a beautiful dress just sad that it doesn’t fit.

    Head-turner! I had this dress in black but sold it when it got to be too big on me. I'm so glad that they brought it back and in a pretty blue. The floral appliques are darling and the cut is adorable. Love the back zipper pull too -it's Barbie! I would buy this in every color if I could. I think it runs a tad large, but looks great with a belt!

    Beautiful dress, lovely quality, fully lined. But tried both the Large and X-Large but neither fitted me. The large was too tight around the waist and the X-Large fitted the waist but was too big under the arms (gaping). I had to return both, to difficult to try and bring in due to the lining.

    Cute but bad sizing

    It's very cute and seemingly well-made, but the sizing is ridiculous. I have dozens of dresses from UV and my normal size M was straight up unwearable. I ordered another in XL and even though it finally zips up, now the bust area fits kinda weirdly, the straps are too long. Maybe I should have gotten a size L or maybe I need to adjust the straps with a tailor. I dunno, if you buy this dress, good luck.

    While the dress does act like it may have a petticoat under it, it feels and looks like Barbie’s original outfit! I love this dress. I feel it runs true to size I pre-ordered this and waited MONTHS and may have gained a few pounds, but I will lose it and the dress will fit beautifully.

    So cute!

    This dress is incredibly, incredibly cute- the fabric is far lighter and softer than I expected, and the pockets are huge. It mostly fits great- fitted but comfy and hitting right below my knee. However, it is small in the chest area, which is made worse by how large and heavy the zipper is- I’m still trying to find a way to keep the zipper up when I wear it. For context, I have a Medium, which is my usual size. It fits totally typically except for the bust.

    perfect sunday dress

    I was hesitant about pulling the trigger on this 1. because of the price and 2. because I was afraid it would look costumey but it is totally worth it. The look, the fit, everything. I got so many compliments. Only tiny thing is that while it is nice & fitted around my chest, the straps did fall off my shoulders a few times through out the day.

    This dress really does make you feel like the prettiest thing in town! i love it the staring gets to much sometimes hahaha. but its gorgeosu it snatches my waist and i use a belt to empathize it more and a cute hat with sheer gloves and its just so darling. i can't get enough of it !!!! best barbie dress. I orders small and its wonderful love the way it sits on my waist but with the belt its so much better

    I dare you to walk into a restaurant or down the street with this nifty lil number and see how many times people either stop to compliment you or stare at you with heart-shaped eyes. This dress is absolutely fabulous! Fits true to size, but if you’re slightly gifted up top it might fit tight, but I myself experienced no issues. ;)

    Cute dress, but am wondering if the quality has changed? Mine seems stretchy with very thin material when previous reviews stated there was no stretch. The zipper pull now has the circle around the Barbie symbol when earlier versions did not. Very cute dress, but wish it had adjustable straps and had to size up in this.

    Drop everything and buy this dress!

    I have been eyeing this dress for over a year. No joke. I kept balking at the price, but finally bought it when it went on sale. This dress is worth the full price, and a steal on sale. It is amazing. It's light and airy, while also being so well made and constructed. I generally like to keep my arms covered, but this magical dress makes your arms and shoulders look phenomenal. Don't know how, but it does.
