About the Book
This essay collection argues that what is at stake in Ukraine is not just territory, but the historic trajectory for the world's democracies.Book Synopsis
This essay collection narrates a decade of tireless advocacy for a resolute international response to Moscow's threat to Ukraine and to global peace. The contributions reflect a timeline of Russia's unfolding revanchist strategy to upend the Western-led international order by using its genocidal war on Ukraine as a battering ram against the pillars of the free world. The authors argued that what is at stake in Ukraine is not just territory, but the historic trajectory for the world's democracies.
The writings of this book offer an insightful perspective on the Western response to Russia's emergence as a rogue state. The authors' piercing arguments removed the gloss off the polished political posturing of Western leaders to expose their inadequate and irresponsible actions. For decades, until 2022, Western leadership had been ignoring Russia's threat to global security and pursued Putin's appeasement at the expense of the nations which Moscow strived to subjugate. The doomed policy of wooing Russia to prevent its closer alliance with China backfired. Instead of aligning Russia with the West, it paved the way to a growing global anti-western axis of terror, led by Moscow and backed by Beijing.
Review Quotes
Roman and Ariana's analysis of the international response to Russia's genocidal war against Ukraine has always been far ahead of the mainstream. Their writings made a strong contribution to preparing the world for confrontation with the growing global axis of evil which is challenging the free world to impose by force their "new world order" based on fear, violence, oppression, and spheres of control. Russia is the military leader of this new axis of evil. This is why I am deeply grateful to the authors for the many years of their selfless and devoted work to defend the values and principles of the free world.--Hanna Hopko, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada's Foreign Affairs Committee in 2014-19
Sohn and Gic's incisive writing has confidently stood the test of time. Their non-compromising, fact-based analysis bravely treaded a path ahead of the curve, helping to shape the global discourse on Russia.--Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Deputy Prime-Minister for European and Euroatlantic Integration of Ukraine, 2016-2019
This work is not just an argument for morality in foreign policy, it draws a clear picture of how compromised political decisions lead to tragic real life consequences for millions of people across the globe, even those who still haven't realized it.--Volodymyr Ohryzko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in 2007-09
