- Plant in the fall, before the first frost hardens the soil. Dig a hole to the required depth. Place bulb in hole, pointed side up. Cover with soil and water thoroughly. Mulch in extreme climates. For container planting, bury the bulb three times as deep as the bulb is wide. In zones 6 and below, you will need to protect your bulb containers. Place them near the foundation of the house or other structure. In zones 3-5, place the container in an unheated garage or shed. After blooming, leave the bulbs in place so plants can clump or reseed. Divide only when containers or planting spaces become too crowded. Propagate in the fall by division after they have been chilled for four weeks in a moist medium.

Consumers like them for their bold, curb appeal colors and simple selection. Yet, not all mixtures are created equal, and the varieties within the mixture make up the value of the overall mixture. Our mixture is made up of various possible Tulip types and colors that we carry throughout the season. Plant in mass sweeps for maximum effect. Buy several packs to get more types and colors as no two packs are the same. Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. Lots of variety and color with each mixture being unique. Best grouped or mass planted in sunny areas. If planted 4" apart 1200 bulbs will cover 133 square feet, whereas if planted 8" apart 1200 bulbs will cover 533 square feet. Plant for the look you want, or the needs you are trying to achieve.
