Purpose
Vaginal Contraceptive..Directions
For maximum protection against unwanted pregnancy, follow the enclosed directions exactly. Insert one applicatorful into the vagina prior to intercourse (See complete, illustrated directions on package insert). Each applicatorful is effective immediately and up to one hour after application. An additional applicatorful is required prior to each act of intercourse, regardless of time since last application.Other information
Studies have raised safety concerns that products containing the spermicide nonoxynol-9 can irritate the vagina and rectum. Sometimes this irritation has no symptoms. This irritation may increase the risk of getting HIV/AIDS from an infected partner. You can use nonoxynol-9 for birth control with or without a diaphragm or condom if you have sex with only one partner who is not infected with HIV and who has no other sexual partners or HIV risk factors. When used correctly every time you have sex, latex condoms greatly reduce, but do not eliminate, the risk of catching or spreading HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Use a latex condom without nonoxynol-9 if you or your sex partner has HIV/AIDS, multiple sex partners, or other HIV risk factors. Ask a health professional if you have questions about your best birth control and STD prevention methods. Store at room temperature 59 degrees - 86 degrees F (15 - 30 degrees C). I've used the film in the past (which works great for me), so Iwas excited to use this gel version. Big mistake: it caused a very uncomfortable and persistent yeast infection. I am immunocompromised so the infection lasted two months even while using over-the-counter yeast infection products, boric acid suppositories, acidophilus supplements, AND eating yogurt at least 4x a week. Giving this two stars because of the convenient applicator but I would be careful with this product. If you get a yeast infection from using it go DIRECTLY to your doctor for a rx.

I have NEVER had a yeast infection before and after using this once I currently have one😭 my boyfriend also complained that it made him burn during intercourse. It also tastes very nasty and has a gross oily texture to it. I DO NOT recommend.

Soooooo yeah I was using this (with no other contraception as I can’t take birth control) and ended up pregnant lol. I feel it’s effective BUT is not a guarantee. Please use with another form of contraception to be on the safe side. Luckily I was avoiding pregnancy just “delaying” it but that didn’t work too long ha.

I use this product alongside condoms with an additional occasional pull out method as I cannot be on bcontrol and my spouse and I are not wanting anymore kiddos. Not pregnant yet, and I feel safer using it. No UTIs. I practice going pee after relations, as ANYONE SHOULD for any method of intercourse. Adds lubricant too.

Been using this for a couple months with absolutely no issue as others are describing. No burning, itching or tubes with no product and definitely no pregnancy. I have used the film before but found having to wait 20 mins before use annoying and loved how this one was instant. My partner barely notices it and neither of us have had any utis. Some things just don’t work well for others but this works for us perfectly!

I was looking for a birth control alternative until it came time to have my IUD put in. I thought this would be a great idea since it is hormone free and my boyfriend and I wouldn’t be able to tell it was there. I read many of the good reviews thinking that the bad ones were flukes. Nope. The ones about UTIs were right. I just bought this and used it once last Friday. I’ve definitely had some UTIs before and yesterday my body felt funny like one was coming on. I hoped for the best thinking I was wrong. Today is the following Tuesday and now I know for sure I have a UTI. I only used one tube and it certainly does give a burning sensation that is uncomfortable even after the 6 hours it recommends before washing. I thought maybe I was just sensitive to the product, but even that would have been weird because I don’t typically have sensitivity issues. I’ll be finding another contraceptive for sure. Not worth it in my opinion.

The product works fine, however, I was only able to use eight of the ten applicators. It comes with the applicator in two pieces - the tube containing the spermicide and then a stick that is placed into the applicator to push it out. On two of the applicators, the seal that is intended to be pushed on to expel the product had come out. I could put it back in and then push the product out, but the product was very thick and unable to be spread because it had dried out from being exposed to air. I'll buy it again because there aren't really any other options, but I'm quite disappointed that the quality of the packaging is so poor. I wish I could get this in a tube without the pre-filled applicators.

I first used Phexxi with my Caya diaphragm and it made my husband itch terribly. This spermicide was wonderful, didn’t bother either of us and didn’t even notice it was there! (NOTE- I do use this with a diaphragm). I love it!
