Violife Just Like Cheddar Shreds Vegan Cheese Alternative - 8oz

"new recipe"... Worst news of my week. I bought this cheese religiously, why change?!?!

Why did you change the recipe? It was perfect, it melted well. Now it seems more oily, doesn’t taste as good, and doesn’t melt as well. Bad change.

The recipe change means that I am no longer able to consume this product. I am medically unable to have gluten, dairy, soy, or any added sugar, and this was a go-to product for me. Now that you've added glucose to the ingredients, I can no longer have it. Congrats, you've just lost a loyal customer.

I've been buying Violife Cheddar Shreds for several years. It's always been a decent alternative to real cheddar cheese now that I can no longer eat dairy. Today I purchased it for the first time since they made it "new and improved". I made Mac and cheese with it like I normally do, It's new alright, but not improved! The taste and smell are not pleasant. I would like to plead with the Violife Company to go back to the old recipe and dump this "new and improved version". I will not be buying this version of the product again, ever!

Super sad they changed the formula on these. It used to be my absolute favorite vegan cheese. The new formula tastes very “bitey” like too sharp cheddar, but in a fake way, and the texture is no good - very thin and waxy (see through). After eating on a pizza, my tongue still burns. I will not be recommending or buying this again. Please bring back the original formula!!

These used to be great, but this new formula is gross. It tastes off and melts into a greasy puddle. I can't recommend this new formula.

I’ve always used this cheese for my son, who has multiple food allergies, and it’s been a safe and reliable option—until recently. I noticed that lentil protein has been added to the ingredients. Not only is this a potential allergen for my son, but the taste and texture have also noticeably changed for the worse. I sincerely hope you’ll reconsider this change and return to the original formula.

Finally, a vegan cheese that melts!!! I made baked spaghetti and used the cheddar and mozzarella shreds. Delish!!

The previous version was perfect. The new version made with Lentils is DISGUSTING and inedible. I will never buy this product again. So disappointed. I had used the former product for ages and bought bulk of it. Had NO clue it was a completely different recipe, and very irritated on how little effort this company made to disclose SUCH a difference in taste. I bought 2 bulk bags and have several of the retail bags. Throwing them out if I can't find someone who likes this new recipe. I made a giant batch of soup with it and had to throw it out it was so gross. That was SO much money wasted. Really really disappointed. The new version reminds me of the nasty Daiya cheddar shreds (the original) aka the product i know most hate. WHY VIOLIFE, WHY?!!!! You just went 10,000 miles backwards with this revised recipe. You had the only product that didn't suck in the Vegan cheeze world, and now it's back to square one. I have a Food Truck so this is a huge loss of sales coming from me, as the Cheddar shreds were in most of my products. PLEASE go back to the original recipe, not this Lentil one. I HATE giving bad reviews, but this one was a mega blow to my world and I'm just stunned on why you would mess with such a great thing?!

Thank God that I read labels for my allergic son. I noticed that the bag now has lentils which he cannot have (peanut/pea allergy). This was our go to and we loved being able to use it for him. He has 9 food allergies and the original products gave him some sense of normalcy. We have now had to switch to another product that is 3x more expensive and in only 1 flavor (Mexican shreds). PLEASE bring back your old product. It WAS great!

The new and improved recipe is garbage. I used to buy it and use it regularly but it has ruined every dish I've made and the taste is awful. Please go back to the old recipe, or I will definitely not be purchasing again. Terrible product now.

This used to be my favorite vegan cheese! I used it every morning to make my breakfast and then some, though from trying the new version I wouldn't ever want to cook with it again. First off the size and texture of the shreds are very different, not to mention the smell. They used to be creamy and thick, now they're so small, rubbery, and fickle. The taste is completely different, I'm not sure how to describe it other than I wish I didn't give it a fair shot thinking maybe the taste will be better than the rest. It's just disappointing after using it for so long and it being a staple in my cooking for it to change. I really hope there's consideration to change it back but until that happenes I cannot buy it. If anyone reading wants an alternative cheese I recommend Chao creamery slices and just shred them yourself. The soft texture and less aggressive taste is reminiscent of violifes old recipe.

the “new and improved” violife tastes old and is definitely not an improvement. this tastes like what we had in 2004. violife was a major step forward in plant based cheeses and they just took 20 steps back. IT WASN’T BROKEN! please for the love of god bring back the original product.

I loved Violife cheddar before the "new and improved" taste. It was the only non-dairy cheese I would buy. This new formulation is downright repugnant. I'd rather have no cheese than whatever this has become. It is such a shame because Violife brand used to be far better than other brands, but now it's just as awful, if not worse.

Please go back to the old recipe. This "new and improved" recipe has a sweetness to it and an aftertaste that is not good. Violife was my vegan family's favorite, it tasted amazing and was more convenient to find, cost effective to purchase, basically superior - but I cannot ruin any more meals with this new version.

Please Violife change the recipe back! It was perfect- now it is unbelievably bad. Beyond devastated. I wont be buying it again unless it is returned to the original recipe.

This was the only vegan cheese that tasted like real cheese, but now it tastes awful! It doesn't melt in a creamy way anymore. Now it's oily and weird. Also, why did you decide to put CITRIC ACID in it?? Citric acid is a toxic chemical made from black mold that gives lots of people symptoms of allergies and inflammation. Never buying this again.

This product used to be amazing. I had used it for the last 7 years consistently, without issue up until recently. It looks like the recipe changed, and it makes everything taste awful - i initially thought i got a bad bag, until I purchased another bag and it had the same terrible taste. I'm quite dissapointed, and I'll have to look elsewhere for an alternative because this is actually disgusting.

I loved 5his vegan shredded cheese until the "new and improved" version with lentils came out. The cheese has an off putting taste that intensifies when heated. When melted into a sauce it turns an neon orange color. This was my go to cheese for sauces and melting but not anymore.
