Book Synopsis
From Susan Kaufman, the author and photographer of Walk With Me: New York, comes a book showcasing the allure and beauty of the homes and streets of the Hamptons. The Hamptons has an international reputation as a glamorous summertime playground for the rich and famous, with mega-mansions hidden behind expertly manicured walls of privet. But there is another side of the East End that is more down-to-earth and magical in every season. This is the Hamptons that readers will come to know, love, and celebrate in Walk With Me: Hamptons. Experience the charming and historic side of the Hamptons: its classic shingle houses, cozy, rose-covered cottages, roadside farm stands filled with fresh produce and flowers, centuries-old windmills, quaint inns and indie shops, fields of wildflowers, hydrangea-filled gardens, cornfields, and, of course, the beautiful beaches. The Hamptons are a perfect combination of natural beauty and stunning architecture that will always make it a unique and alluring destination. This gorgeous book showcases what makes the Hamptons so special and makes a perfect housewarming gift. Includes Color PhotographsReview Quotes
"If you can't summer on Long Island, this lovely book lets you live vicariously among its cozy cottages, lush gardens, roadside farm stands and beautiful beaches."--People Magazine
"The 238 photos are accompanied by maps marking her favorite stops in villages and hamlets like East Hampton, Sag Harbor, and Montauk. Her pictures [are from] all four seasons--lush, soothing snaps of Victorian cottages, roadside strawberry stands, and trees bursting with rhododendrons and wisteria. Each is an image of carefree Americana that seems frozen in time."--New York Times

I originally saw images from the book in the NY Times and was very disappointed by the banal, cliched and repetitive images of the Hamptons. The locations look pretty, sure. Technically, they're routine, and in terms of vision the images are lacking in creativity or insight. They look like images from a stock postcard in a Hamptons shop.
