Wanderlish Black Garlic Chicken - 16oz

This may be the worst easy cook meal I have ever had. I followed the directions exactly as written. The portion size is extremely small - about as much chicken as 3-4 chicken nuggets. The rice is just a mushy mess that looks nothing like the photo. The chicken looks okay, maybe a little on the fatty side. And the sauce is like a thick gelatin that just sits on top on the mushy meal. Tried one small bit and the salt was so overwhelming that we discarded the meal. There are much better options out there! Skip this one.

This was far from my expectations. The rice was very soggy yet underdone. Even when microwaved the recommended time (and a bit more because it was still just lukewarm) it had a little bit of an uncooked hardness to it. When I microwaved it, the watery sauce on it made it spread out into a mushy goo pile across the plate. There was really not much chicken at all. I recognize that Americans notoriously over portion, but this was definitely not enough for two people to even have a small portion. Unless you are having other items along side it, I can’t imagine this would be filling for two people. The rice seemed like a hearty enough portion but even as a rice lover, I was pretty unmotivated to each much of the chewy, soggy mess. The taste also wasn’t my favorite but that’s a personal preference and doesn’t really factor into the overall rating. That is based solely on the presentation, quality, and quantity of food. For those that are interested in thoughts on taste, the tamarind sauce overwhelmed the dish. It was good on the chicken but there was too much in comparison to the amount of chicken. The rice, with all its problems, actually seemed to have decent flavor on its own (maybe coconut and lime?) but the tamarind sauce overpowered any flavor the rice may have had. I personally thought the sauce was too tangy, but tamarind and black garlic are both pretty bold, pungent flavors so that’s not super shocking. I feel like this dish just went for the boldest possible flavor, so if that’s not your thing - may not be for you.

Rice was undercooked and soggy. There was barely any chicken. Definitely not 2 servings.

Even though the nutrition facts presents this product as "2 servings" I want to share that the chicken, including the package and marinade, was 4.3 ounces. It looked small so I put the chicken on a scale to see.. So before you buy this thinking you have dinner for two, consider you'll be having TWO OUNCES of chicken for dinner. Yikes. I learned the hard way! The rice was not good either. I'll stick to Kevin's chicken dinners in the future.

Portions were TINY. I also have a hard time believing the macros were correct for each portion. Also looked nothing like the packaging.

The black garlic chicken is D-Darn-Licious! There is nothing like it across the grocery store and the experience easily rivals many of the restaurant experiences. I am sold!

This was a super easy meal idea for my family of four tonight! I picked up two Wanderlish meals and a bagged salad and had dinner on the table in five minutes. The chicken was so quick to cook and surprisingly plentiful. Not cheap chicken like you get in some of the other refrigerated meals out there. The rice was easy to microwave and the drizzle on top added so much delicious flavor! We were amazed at how “restaurant-like” it was. So yummy! After a long day at work, thank you for this perfect meal idea.

Can't believe I paid good money for mushy rice and small portion of food.

My new favorite. So good and best of all my 11 year old son devoured it. Mixed the sauce and rice together, delicious. Will be stocking up for quick healthy meals

This dinner was amazing! The tamarind sauce was delicious. This is the perfect weeknight meal, that my kids will actually eat!

Followed the directions but I also tossed the rice in the saute pan with the chicken and finished it off with a drizzle of the sauce...tasted great! will buy again

Great variety of flavor. Chicken is tender and I appreciated being able to cook it on the stove vs the microwave. Made it better overall. And the Tamarind Sauce...wow.
