Hello, We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. Please be informed that systems will use both decimal and binary to measure the size. A drive's size is measured by using the total number of bytes that can be used on the drive. Please refer to the following below link to know more about the Drive is Smaller than the Drive Label: "Available Capacity of the Drive is Smaller than the Drive Label": https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detailweb/a_id/16656/ If you need any technical support, please feel free to contact us :(https://www.westerndigital.com/company/contact-us)

The hard drive I received was dead on arrival. It spun up and seemed to be working fine, but it wasn't recognized by any device. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't an exchange process. I had to purchase a replacement and then return the original, which meant I was out a lot of money while waiting for the return to process. As for the drive itself, it's great. This is my 6th one so far, and I will continue to buy red/gold pros..
Work flawlessly in my Synology NAS.

I have had three 16TB drives in my synology NAS for 9 months now and the three drives are working great. They are a bit of an overkill and expensive for my home NAS. Wife has thousands of hi resolution photos and videos from our world travels, so thought big to start with for thousands more. Reason I chose WD hard drives: After 40 years of building my own computers and using WD drives of all kinds and sizes, I have never had one fail. They do make s slight chuckling noise when doing a write operation such as a full computer backup, but even sitting on a shelf 4 feet from my ears, they are not annoying and run with minimal cooling fan operation without getting even warm. An ethernet connected network to my computer retrieves stored files faster than my hard drives in my computer. So the whole system is working great.

Upgraded from a WD Red 4TB 256cache 5400rpm drive to this 16tb Red Pro running at 7200rpm w/512cache. The 4TB drives buffered 4k videos so bad I couldn't watch. These new 16th 7200rpm drives are streaming 20gb 4k videos without breaking a sweat. Enjoy.

Hello, We're sorry to hear your user experience with the WD Red Pro Hard Drive and appreciate your time for providing this review. Based on your concern, if the drive is not showing up on the computer then it could be due to insufficient power supply to the drive for operation. To isolate the cause of the drive failure, it is recommended to connect the drive as secondary storage via SATA port to the computer and check the drive for any damage or defect. We recommend connecting the drive as secondary storage via SATA port to the computer, to test the health of the drive using Western Digital Dashboard for Windows. "Western Digital Dashboard: How to Install and Use" https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/31759#subject2 If the test is unfortunately inconclusive and you just purchased the drive then you should be able to return it to the place of purchase. However, if you are past their return policy, you can create an RMA through WD and replace the drive under warranty if necessary. "How to Get an RMA to Replace a Defective Product, Obtain a Power Supply, or USB Cable for a WD Product": https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10336 All our products must pass our stringent quality standards before leaving our factory to be free from defects in materials and craftsmanship. We stand behind our products throughout the device's factory warranty period. Please contact us via the phone to ensure an overall good experience with Western Digital. We'd be happy to help. Arrived well before anticipated date. Have not removed the drives from their boxes yet to do any sort of analysis. I would like to see them packaged better in the future, given the way some mail carriers handle our packages.

Bought on Cyber Monday sale on WD website. Only after purchase was informed Drive was on Back Order. If I had known drive was Back Ordered, then I wouldn't have purchased. Now 3 weeks later, told drive isn't available and will get a refund. Missed Cyber Monday deals due to WD's dishonesty. Congratulations WD, you just lost a lifelong WD customer and fan.

1/4 didn't work. HGST has better QC. Bought 4x16TB drives, 3 of them booted up, one didn't. Then when I went to RMA it, they said it was out of warranty. What a joke. So after waiting 3 weeks for them to ship the drives, they're out of warranty and making me wait longer to get a replacement while they figure out their side of the house. Nice.
